Hey.. I recently got hold of a movie which was in a VOB format.
The files look like this.
untitled.JPG

As you can see the total size of these files is 7.37 GB.

Can anyone suggest a method of burning (without converting) this movie on two 4.7 GB disks (in order to retain the quality and features of a DVD disc). If possible , can I divide the movie into two equal parts and burn them on two disks ?

Thanks.

thats probably a dual layer DVD you are looking at:ohyeah:

you can. with WinRar you can split the files in 2 or more archives, but you will again need winrar to join or extract the data from them before you play the dvd again.

get a dual layer mate.. no need of splitting the movie.. n plus if u split the movie into 2 disks.. it wont play on DVD players.. ull have to copy all the data of the disks on the hdd again n then play it..

^^ Giving the alternate is not useless as you think. We have been there- done that and we share our experiences. The old members know a lot about these stuff so let's respect ALL forms of suggestions. No pun intended- but calling it useless is not justified.

Well, even if you have been there and done that, just posting your conclusion without explaing the in-between part will be useless. The OP will most likely get confused with the seemingly irrelevant replies.

BTW, the dvdshrink guide seems like the perfect solution to the OP's question. :)

dual layer

The whole point was to do it on a 4.7 GB disc OR two discs that could be used on a standard DVD player !! :cool2: ... As a matter of fact , one of my DVD players is an old variant of the DVP-NS50P (exact model unknown) and it DOES have issues with dual layer DVDs.

DVD Shrink .info: v2.3 "Splitting" guide

This is perfect for you...

Remember...there will be no menu's, etc.. in this method

Guys please read what the OP wants before giving useless suggestions!!!

 Thank you !!!

But what I'm REALLY curious about is that can we actually SPLIT the movie into different scenes and put half of them on a second disc ? I know this sounds pretty pointless, but I'm just really really curious.

I use DVDFab to split 8GB movies into two disc. You have the option of retaining the main menu's on both the disc, you can choose the size and chapters that you want on each disc. You can also enable the second disc to start playing as soon as you insert the disc or display the menu. I would suggest you try out the software, DVDFab HD Decrypter is the free version, its very easy and self-explanatory.

The actual content on the SL DVD can not be 7.37 GB. There must be some encryption that has been done to make it appear so. These are generally done so as to discourage DVD copying. You can use a software to get past the decryption (if available) and then can copy the DVD as it is. You can also use some DVD copying software, which supports bypassing of encryption, to make a copy of the DVD.

The OP never said that he copied the contents from a SL DVD. He just wants to split and burn the DL DVD files into two SL DVD's.
