hello anyone there ?

You have many options on what you can get for that money. Since you are living in Mumbai, the best bet would be a 7900GT. I agree people will say get a x1800xt or something but they aint available cheap here.

For some reviews on which can be a proper card just visit sites like Guru3d.com tomshardware.com and anandtech.com. Each one will help you on deciding which card to get.

Now apart from that, to get an "overall" good performance i also suggest you get more RAM, i would have suggested to go over to AMD but that would just increase your budget. Also one more tip, get a AMD64 Mobo+Proccy combo for 11k, get a decent performing card like 6600GT for 7k and you can spend the rest in getting some more RAM. Well thats my suggestion.

More people will give their good suggestion, just have patience.....

P4c800 is an AGP board, first of all get more RAM, secondly sell off ur current config and get a PCIE config. AGP is long dead and its a waste spending on AGP cards.

I will give you a very good idea.
Sell your cpu+mb+ram+psu and get maybe around 5k or more.

put in atleast 30k or so and get a decent config.

else oc your cpu to 3.2+ speeds, get 1-2gb ram and get a 6800GS/GT/Ultra(in case ultra then second hand)

If you do not plan to upgrade your processor and mobo for atleast another year or two then, get yourself a 7800GS and 1 GB RAM. If you plan to upgrade, then its better that you do not spend so much on a card now.

Ain't the P4C800 an AGP board ?? The best possible option is to go for the 7800GS or a X800 series card.

yeah its an AGP board :p

shame on you all who suggested 7900 GT :p

P4C800 doesnt come with onboard video so what card are you using now?

you have only 256mb of ram which is not enough for anything. u cant game with it even if u have a good video card. you will need to get at least 1Gig of ram if you want decent FPS.

your PSU.. what brand is it?
I dont think that psu can handle a new video card like a 7800GS.

If you want to keep this setup then u will definitely need more ram and a better psu before u can buy a better video card..

A better thing to do will be to sell your mobo and cpu and move to PCIE get more ram, psu and video card.

Dude ... u have 256 MB RAM .... and in this case no matter what graphics card u put in , ur performance will still be bs .... get ur RAM to 1 GB atleast , then get a new graphics card , preferably a 7800GS ...

Good, with your budget of 15-20K you could ideally go for the 7800GS (AGP). It will cost 19500/- I think leadtek has stocks. Confirm with them. Mumbai 23009539

Well partially agree on that... The 7800GS is a great AGP chipset, and is very possibly the 'last of the mohicans'!
Leadtek's are decent nuff, also check out Asus, they've dropped rates, turned around AFA the indian market goes. In fact I was surprised to find an Asus card costing just 1K more than an XFX (identical chipset and specs). With that kind of a diffi I'd pick Asus any day...
best of luck card hunting

Yup, a 7600 GT will perform close to a 7800 GS and the 7900 GT will simply blow it away. Much better to upgrade to PCIE and get a 7600 GT instead of a AGP 7800 GS.

guys, more people use AGP than pci-e today. if you look at the steam statistics for graphics card usage, most people played hl2 with AGP than with any other card. Valve Survey Summary

But still, if you already have an AGP chipset, and its good enough for your needs, than why spend the extra money??

people have been predicting the death of agp since 6800's came out. Then why would comanies make the 7800 gs agp? And nvidia has confirmed the 7600gs agp as well.

Whats the big diff if youre already getting 40 + fps and are happy at 800 X 600 or even 640X480?? everybody watched the worldcup at 720X400(?) pal resolution right? and ntsc is even less!!!

That much computing power is enough. enough for all your computing needs and the occasional game. And yes for most people games are just an occasional thing,, remember its a game.

There will be enough mobos for SKT 754 + AGP atleast for the whole of next year.

Read this forum (rage3d) about this.
AGP won't die 7600gs agp - Rage3D Discussion Area

Dont buy something just becuase nvidia or ATI wants you to. DO you really need it?

Or that the game sucks unless all the bells and whistles are turned on?

When the AGP chipset just cant do it anymore and you really need to update, then you can. Otherwise, if theres a cheaper way, and it works then go ahead.

just my two cents.

Ps: let me add that the agp 8X bandwidth is not saturated even now.

^^ LOL he wants to spend 15-20k on a gfx chip which simply aint worth it on a platform that is dead. 7800GS was released more then a yr back, performance is close to a 7600 GT and is much more expensive.

If he is able to sell his mobo and cpu for 4k then too it will be cheaper to get an A64 3000+ a cheap Foxconn board (those boards are awesome) and a 7600GT PCIE card which will all come below 20k, go figure it out. Not only his proccy will be much better but he will have a relative future proof rig.

What you said is perfectly true. But changing the motherboard and processor entails a lot more hassels than just inserting a graphics card. You have to dismantle your computer, format your hard disk and also sell your old proccy and mbd.
