i agree wid tufel, 9800GT isn't very much behind HD4770..on lower resolution u won't c ne change b/w both of dem, an OC 9800GT performs even better den HD4850 on lower resolutions..so if ur monitor isn't huge den @ 5.5k 9800 is best VFM product u can get :hap2:

VFM... i don't know about that if you factor in the cost of a PSU. The 4770 will run flawlessly on a much cheaper PSU. Overall the cost equalizes(assuming the 6.5k price tag for the ATi card) and the 4770 comes out on top due to the higher performance.
I do agree with you if the buyer already has a decent PSU. But then if so, chances are he's looking for something that falls in a performance tier above both the cards.

dude the difference in power consumtion b/w 4770 and 4850 is hardly 10 watts(load).dont even ask abt the consumtion on idle:bleh:

look bro do u think dat running HD4770 wid a 400-500rs cheap PSU is totally safe?? i don't think so, m not saying that HD4770 will need costly PSU like vx450 but still u shld get sumthng decent..rite? so even if u'll buy VIP500W which is sumwhere in da range of 2k, u can run both HD4770 & 9800GT on it..

9800GT is around 5.5k & HD4770 is over 7k so looking at the performance difference i believe that HD4770 WAS VFM but now 9800GT is a VFM product

n also availability of a product has a direct impact on sales of ne product

Why should i be crucified for having an opinion? Pretty clear from my post that i respect yours.
I stand by what i said, different people see different utility in different products.
Also, this:-

@tufel
An 80W TDP Vs. a 110WTDP card that offers nearly the same performance? Am i missing something here bro?

lol yea diff ppl hav diff choices :eek:hyeah:

firstly a hd4770 isnt on sale for 6.5k.its abt 7k . secondly the 80 tdp thing is a marketing gimmick. i hv read abt 5 reviews on the hd4770 and none of them justify the '80w tdp revolution' as techies r making it to be.

well mate!These check This link's..

actually there is one more review which shows even the overclocked power consumption of 4770 which is much better then its closest card 4850 at load

Infact i was planning to buy a 4870 1GB Edition, but power numbers of the same held me back as i would be then needed to change my smps just for sake of this card, as i am pretty sure that the next gen cards like 5870 will have lesser power requirements looking at the 4770 numbers now and i can prolong my current PSU for little more time.

btw

MSI HD 4770 is 6.5k or less in local market.

even though 9800GT is 1k cheaper than 4770, there are many strong points in favour of HD 4770.

* power consumption

* slight better performance at stock

* mostly HDMI adapter bundled, which is not the case with 9800GT

* Audio through HDMI which are really helpful for HTPC

* Crazy performance after OC. After OC it even beats stock 4850 or GTS 250. 9800GT wont even come closer.

* future proof with DX 10.1

*latest cutting edge design with 40nm GPU and GDDR5 memory.

see this guys HD4770 is only 6.20% faster then 9800GT

NOTE : 9800GT is performing better in games which consumes more resources like Crysis Warhead, UT3, GTAIV

UT3 isnt a resourse hungry game by any means. It highly favours nvidia, as i was able to play it at almost close to max settings even on my 8600GT on lappy.

The benchs on other games says, 4770 has gr8 potential and beats the other by very impressive margin.

cysis and GTA 4 has very diverse performance benchs on each driver versions. Warhead performance on ATI cards has improved much over the past with newer catalysts.

btw where on earth, a 9800GT has such clocks? :bleh:

650 core

1625 shader and

1100 memory!!!!!!!!!

check the specs: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT: supercharge your graphics horsepower with this GPU at the perfect price and performance combination.

real clocks:

core: 600

shader: 1500

memory: 900

The above pic is a highly oced 9800GT vs stock HD 4770, and still 4770 wins.:hap2:

its not HIGHLY OC 9800GT..its just slightly OCed card..lol :p

9800GT has gr8 OC capability

& one more thing..those games which support Physx will work better on 9800GT in comparison with HD4770

(play Batman Arkham Asylum's demo with phsyx on ATI cards) :p

Seems like some people dont wanna accept the reality. Mr Nvidia fans :)

dude y dont u just stfu if u r not aware of wat's been going on! we're no f***** nvidia fans. all we're trying to say is that the 9800gt has got better vfm than a hd4770.if i were a nvidia fanboy y wud i hv recommended a hd4850 as the best vfm currently availabe in the market.

^^ I've been following this thread, I am aware of whats going on. See, I agree that 9800 Gt is VFM , but it consumes more power as compared to 4770, agree? Now in the long run which one will save ur money. Think this way.

I am a gamer, but a casual gamer, so I think 4770 is best for me. And I don't keep on changing my GPU every year. Ofcourse, some people keep on changing and buying new & powerful GPU. So, if someone is like this, than he/she can go for 9800 GT. Ofcourse 9800 GT is VFM, but now you must've understood my point. And be cool yaar. No offence.:)

dude how much r u going to on electricity on a card which consumes 20w less than a 9800gt? most people run thier pc's 24/7,but still they dont brag abt the electricty bill.now for such people wat diff. wud a mere 20w make.

how can 9800GT be more vfm than 4770 with all those points i mentioned. An even an oced 9800GT cudnt beat 4770.
btw im not an ATI fanboy and i own an 8800GT psame as 9800GT] myself and i love it. runs really cool, almost silent, good OCer [its a Sparkle 8800GT dual slot with 2 heat pipes and an 18 fin 90mm fan 2000~2400rpm].
