I would say wait.

4850 512 -> 4870 1gb is not a big upgrade. It will be significantly faster but doesn't warrant an upgrade.

If you have to upgrade then go in for a 4850 X2 at the very least. It kicks the 4870 1gb real hard, else wait for 5850.

The 1GB might make a difference of 3-4 fps in benchmarks, but trust me u might not feel much difference compared to a 512mb while playing games in real life , my advice go for HD4850x2 , than HD4870 1gb if you are buying from abroad.

The OP should have read Shripad's review on 4870 1GB palit. The benchmarks and his conclusions is enough to real to a conclusion. I hope you have a worthy enough psu- which goes without saying.
