I have to buy a replacement battery for my xeta 1.2.

I asked around and came to know the following
There are two types of batteries, the regular (water) and dry cell. now some say that in case of dry cell battery, there would be no starting problem in the car if you do not start it regularly, is it true? I rarely take out my car so if this is true then I might go for it.

I went to a battery shop and the guy showed me Tata Green battery, its a regular one but he says that even if car is lying idle for a month, it will start in one cell. he also said that dry cell batteries are no good.

this tata green is going to cost me 4900 while the exide will cost about 5200. I am unaware of good brands of batteries and stuff, so please let me know if I should look into any other brands.

get an Amaron battery for your car, it has more warranty & most reliable for your car.Also Denso & Bosch recommended.
 
Get Amaron eyes closed .

There are 3 types , based on warranty

Amaron GO - 36 months warranty I guess ~ 3200 .

Amaron FLO - 48 months - around 3900

Amaron PRO - 60 months ~4900

The above price is for 35 amps one .

Best is to get FLO .

PS:you will get atleast 200 for your old battery in exchange ( if it is dead ) .If its working you might bargain for more than 200 rs .

I myself am planning to get a new battery for my just under 6 months old i10 automatic.How much do you think I'll get for that?

Its an Exide Battery and 40A-hr.

Also will I have to buy a 40A-hr battery only or can I go for a bit larger like a 60A-hr?
 
I have some Exide battery in my car. I leave it unused for months. And I have no issues in starting car after that. Was a bit expensive but worth every buck. Plus no maintenance required at all.
 
I upgraded my audio system and have experienced cut-offs once in a while.Also our driver who drives my dad to work said he had start up problems.Hence decided to go for a better battery.I was just wondering if going for the same sized better battery would be enough or should i go for a slightly larger sized one?

Are the Amaron Go/Flo/Pro ones Deep cycle? The don't seem to mention it on their website.

+1 for bosch and exide (quality & vfm respectively)

amaron is kinda okay. amaron makes the bosch batteries, but the bosch stuff is better.

arent you getting any buyback for the batteries? And do investigate the warranties. Battery warranties are kinda complex, with each trying to offer the max warranty, but most of it is pro rata, which is essentially an assured buyback :P
 
the amaron go/flo/pro aren't deep cycle batteries.

i have had the exide freedom which lasted 5 years ,i decided for a change to go the with amaron but has started to give starting trouble after 3 years.

so while exide is better it is more expensive then amaron.the exide(dry i.e with out acid) is also heavier then comparable amaron(dry) batteries meaning more lead is used in exide.
 
What battery would you recommend for me?

I'm not looking for long life,3 years of good performance is more important for me.Also it should be suited for multiple short drives of less than an hour or so everyday and most of the times there will be heavy music played and AC is on.The car is also an Automatic if that matters.

Also my current battery is 40Ah,should I go for same size or slightly larger say 55-60Ah.
 
you said you were experiencing cutoffs. what do you mean by that ?

and how many watts are your amps rated? till you hit the kilowatt range, they shouldnt cause issues. I'd say check your wiring by an experienced installer.
 
Cutoffs are when the music system shuts down or the amp circuit protection kicks in I think when there is a demand for power more than what the amp can provide.

I have a Kicker 5 channel amp that's capable of close to 900W rms but is actually beings used for something far less right now.So I'm sure the amp is not the issue.Cabling is not an issue either because I have used good power cables and the installation has been done real professionally.The only thing left is the source of this power which is the 40Ah Exide OEM.
 
If you have a good ICE with few other gadgets as well then its recommended to go for a higher Ah battery... Capacity of any battery reduces over time so it will take care of it...

I've used Amaron & can recommend it.. though you do not want longer life but my last Amaron on Zen VX gave me seven years of service... Like you I also don't use the car much & it keeps sitting idle most of the time...

He's one ill informed dude. Dry cell batteries are significantly better than the wet cell kinds. Dry cell are safer and require almost no maintenance. Also they can provide instantaneous power more easily, have a more charge/discharge cycles. Unlike the wet cells the dry cells can provide short duration high amperage pulse or low rate long duration drains simultaneously. They have significantly low internal resistance so they provide instantaneous and consistent starting. ....... :rofl: OK ok lecture over.

the overall consensus seems to tend towards exide...but i'll look into amaron as well.

still one question remains. regular or dry cell?

is it true that in case of dry cell, the car would start after even 1 month from the last time the car was started?
 
choose to amaron...

i ve installed amaron battery to my accent DLS 2000 model.. 4 years till now.. still going strong.. car will start in single choke...
 
I've been running Exide on my Santro XG for 6 years. Only last month it refused to start within 2 tries...
Again took the Exide path....Works like a charm

Any particular Dry Cell model you'd recommend that's available locally?
