Hey,
My brother has decided to buy a new PC and has come up with the following config for now:

m/b: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 or Q8200
RAM: 4GB corsair or kingston, preferably 1066MHz (he doesn't want to go for OCZ or any other gaming brand RAM)
HD: Seagate 1TB or 1.5TB
Graphics Card: Palit Radeon HD 4850
Cabinet: Coolermaster elite 330
PSU: Corsair 600W
Keyboard: any
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Monitor: -- already bought --
UPS: Please suggest
Speakers: 2.1 setup, looking to spend around 1.5 to 2k on this, please recommend

Budget is around 50-55k. Please recommend parts that might be better than these in approx. the same budget or let me know if these are good. I'd posted here before when I'd bought my own PC and got very good suggestions so I'm back again :D

Thanks!
Abhay

That build is perfect .. you can probably get an Corsair Vx450 , which would be sufficient for the rig .

For RAM you can look @ Gskillz piBlack 800Mhz for Rs3200 via KMD , or available locally @ 3.8k

Get Q8200 if you don't intend to overclock , its 45nm and runs cooler than the Q6600 which has a better multiplier but is now EOL

Hey, what exactly is a Corsair Vx450?

EDIT: nevermind, googled it. but will a 450W supply be enough for this system?

@Deathdart

Make sure you dont get the 7200.11 Seagate Drives , they are prone to a lot of problems. Go for Seagate 7200.12 OR Western Digital instead.

How abt Hitachi HD? As Hitachi was the first to bring 1 TB HD in the market and I too never faced any problem in it. And your config is perfect.

get the vx 450, its a dam good psu and better than the extreme power 600.

read around the forum there's a review of the gskill pi blacks.

Ok, VX450 it is then! :) Any idea how much Altec Lansing ATP3 retails for these days?

ATP3 is discontinued and it's next model is VS4121, which is improved and fine tuned version of ATP3. Go for it.

Other options:

Logitech Z4 (2.1): 4k
Logitech X-540 (5.1): 5.6k
Altec Lansing MX5021 THX(2.1): 6.6k (my favourite)
Logitech Z-2300 THX(2.1): 7.9k (loads and loads of bass that could crash the house)

@desiibond: Thanks, I'm sure those are all really good speakers, but my bro would ideally like to spend around 1.5k only for speakers n definitely not more than 2k :) Any suggestions for this range?

@prasad_tr: TY, that would be great if they're still available somehow :)

ALSO need suggestions for a good DVD writer, please suggest the best one (i.e. longest life preferred)
