either the A720 IS or S3IS..

both are equally good..but i think da S3IS is good for someone really into photography..maybe a semi-pro..

also it seems to be a bit big and bulky to carry around..other dan that its one of the best...

even the A720 IS is good enough..

so where r u planning to buy from ??lookin at u r budget and the models uve selected..

looks like sifymall is the place..

OT-

errr sorry to say..though ur sig is nice..and da joke makes me laugh..its not very decent..if you please dont mind...

cause i think its not good to make fun one of da biggest signs of love..

just my thinkin. no offense meant buddy.

and yeah u r sig really makes me laugh..

no, but the panasonic has optical stabilization, while the canon has digital (digic 3 ) , and i've heard that optical is inherently better then digital, so was asking :)

^@greenhorn - DIGIC2/3 is the image processor in the Canon Powershot cameras. The S2IS/S3IS/S5IS have optical stabilisation as well.

@ greenhorn, Techhead has answered, before I could.
Most of the Cameras use optical image stabilisation only, digital image stabilisation is not much of use. Digital image stabilisation is used mostly in video cameras. (This technique shifts the electronic image from frame to frame of video, enough to counteract the motion. It uses pixels outside the border of the visible frame to provide a buffer for the motion.)

i have the A570IS.Its a good camera.I got it for 9000 with 1Gb card and pouch. It has manual control also.

depends if u can do with the bulkiness get the S3IS as its a discontinued model replaced with the S5IS,make sure ur not gettin a used piece since stocks r less of the same

if u dont like bulk like suggested above get the A720IS. happy diwali buying

I just bought the Canon SD850IS from the US 2 months ago .. here it is the IXUS 8.1 MP cam.

The pics taken are mind blowing.

I had the Panasonic Lumix FX-7 before this. Hated it. Didn't give me good pix. Battery life sucked.

In the US i took pix on the Canon and a similar specs Sony ... Canon just blew the Sony out of competition. Picked it for approx $350 + tax. It is now down to $299 + tax. Mem card and cover cost $50.

Pics quality awesome. Battery life awesome. Am glad i bought this and not the Sony or for that matter anything else.

The Canons mentioned earlier have optical image stabilization. IIRC Canon was the first to introduce IS lenses for their SLRs more than about 15 years back as also silent USM (with ultrasonic motor) lenses, though these were prohibitively costly yet popular with professionals.

^^he means cool in terms of loooks..

i would still suggest

1) S3 IS -if u dont mind ..but a bit bulky BUT a true pro camera..u will love u r snaps..and have a nice time playing around with it..

S3 IS is the best avaiable option in u r budget..

2) A 720 IS -another good canon camera..successor to the A 710 IS 8 mp..and really good with manual settings..

go with the IXUS series only if you want something really slim ,stylish and all..

else its the S3IS or the A720IS
