Not interested in Dell because of lack of upgrade option. 1 day you'll want 2 GB of RAM and you'll curse yourself for buying the right laptop.
Also, 30k is a bit high for a netbook.
I seem to like Samsung NC 10. Anyone using it?

cignext said:I read the NC 20 has a glossy screen. So it's off the list too.
How about Asus EEE 1000 HE?
Apart from the weight/size everything looks great. Ho bad is the weight/size anyway?

Low-powered and low-priced laptops with 12" aren't being accepted as "netbooks" among users. So think of it as a 12" laptop with some netbook features. Besides, Neo supports 64-bit instructions and 4GB RAM -- unlike Atom.cignext said:$750 for a netbook! Are you kidding me?
Well yeah. But i'm looking for a secondary computer. Mostly for blogging. So I think cheaper netbooks suffice.Yamaraj said:Low-powered and low-priced laptops with 12" aren't being accepted as "netbooks" among users. Not too bad for a 12", eh?
cignext said:Any comparisons between NC10 and Asus EEE 1000HE? Price and battery life aren't the factors.
But I'm keen to try out famous Asus chiclet keyboard but I couldn't find it at Staples
Also, is NC10 SE available in India? What extra does it have?

Yamaraj said:Go for ASUS 1000HE, then. AFAIK, NC10SE is not available in India. Samsung released the same with a new name: N110. But it's not available here, yet.
HE offers longer battery life, a better keyboard and benefits of a refined nth-generation product for less $$$.
And your new N120 is the size of a 12" laptop. Better keyboard and TP on Sammy? Your opinion, definitely not a fact.gforce said:My cousin owns a 1000HE. I can't compare the ASUS with a regular NC10 since I don't own one, but when it comes to the NC10SE vs 1000HE, here are my observations:
Pros for the Sammy:
Much, much better keyboard (and it has gotten better in their latest N120)
Superior touchpad (the NC10 has a smaller touchpad so I'm not too sure how that compares with the ASUS)
Superior touchpad (try clicking the mouse buttons on the ASUS and then on the Sammy. You'll dump the ASUS right then and there)
A bit less bulky
Longer battery life (the regular NC10 has pretty much the same battery life as the ASUS but the NC10SE beats it any day)
Cons:
Slightly slower processor (N270 on the Sammy vs N280 on the ASUS although don't expect more than a 5% performance boost)
More expensive (this can be debated to some extent since the NC10 is already on its way out and the new N120 offers tons of more features {98% keyboard+subwoofer} for less money)
gforce said:I have no idea where you got those stats from. Better keyboard? I would sorely love to see how you got to that conclusion. The NC10 and its successors have the best keyboard if you love touch typing. I've used the 1000HE and it takes a lot of time getting used to. With the Sammy, you take it out of the box and start flying on the keyboard right away.
nth generation product? I literally lmao'ed there! Mate, releasing a trillion netbooks under the EEE moniker does not make a product refined.
