anyone planning to buy an iPhone should wait as there will be new gen iPhone in mid 2009.

or go for iPod Touch and a seprate mobile phone.

But then there's also the possibility that the newer phones be DRM bugged like the latest shuffles, also it may be a while for a jailbreak and unlock to be out .... on the other hand it may be worth it, if it comes with some major hardware changes

Yesterday was Apple's keynote for the upcoming 3.0 firmware update for the iphone and the touch.

There was no announcement for new hardware.

So be rest assured that there will be no hardware upgrade.
