Buying Iphone Advice needed

Hi all,

My friend is planning to buy iphone 3g.
But he is having few doubts it will be great if any iphone user can clarify.

1) Can he use any airtel sim card with iphone or should he use the card that comes with the phone only ???

2) Can he get iphone from US and jailbreak or unlock it or is it advisable to get iphone from india itself ?

suggestions are welcome
 
buying in USA and jailbreaking iphone 3G is much more cheaper than getting it in India.

Not at all worthy for the price of 32k-35k.
 
1)yes he can use any card

2)Get it from here itself,too much of hassles involved if getting from usa.Price difference is not much

1) Afaik yes, he can.

2) Its advisable to get the phone from here itself, price different isn't worth the effort involved.

Do you guys have any idea how much it costs to buy an iPhone without contract in USA :no:

@OP: Buy it from here without second thoughts..Its too expensive to get it from US anyways..And yes, you can use any sim of airtel if you buy your iPhone from Airtel.
 
when i said buy from usa thats means if u have some contacts there in usa to get one without contract. if buying from usa with contract then no sense best buy from here

dude a iphone without contract in usa is too costly:P

The contract-free versions costs $599+shipping it to India+custom duties+no warranties
 
You can get an iphone for 27k from vodaphone.Downside you can't use an airtel sim with it unless you jailbreak and unlock.
 
yea i know hope u must be aware contact works in usa. my cousine got iphone at contract price without contract cos he know someone there. same like he sent one from my brother at cheap price. now i dont know whats the secret

iPhone 3G without contract for $199 is just not possible. Not even if you are Steve Jobs' nephew :P
 
Hey i read somewhere tht apple is launching a new model of iphone somwherere in may or june n also it is plainin to cut the prices of the current models so i thnks it is sensible to wait for some time wht say ???????????
 
in usa the the real cost of iphone is as follows:-

1 200 for iphone 3g with contract
2. 60 minimum for one month
3. 175 for leaving the contract

total 435*52 = 22.6 k and you end up with locked phone and no
warranty in India.

so its better to buy vodafone for 27k with warranty

Bought Airtel Iphone since he is already on airtel and wanted to avail the free 500mb per month offer.

what's black or white got to do with it? The fact is that you can't get it legally for 199 $ without contract. If you're talking about "other" means, its possible, I guess.
