Buying LED from abroad - Need expert advice.

Hey Mates,

1st of all i would like to thank you all for helping me out in deciding HTiB. Finally bougth ONKYO 3300. Me much happy with the same.

Now, would want to upgrade my old 21' CRT to 46" LED.

Few questions i had, would request you to help me out..

1. WILL NOT BUY FROM INDIA, what other locations should i consider. Have relatives in USA, DOHA, SINGAPORE. ( Finding somebody in Thailand

)

2. What model to consider - 46", 3D, Full HD. Prefer Sony / Samsung. But in the end would give preference to price.

3. International Warranty - Friend got Panasonic 46" LCD from Doha with 3 years warranty & insurance for 28k, incl all.

4, Any other factor i should consider.

5. You may share your experience if you purchased from abroad.

1. Bangkok/Phuket cheapest.

2. Sony - Ex720/Nx720

Samsung - D6600/D7000/D8000

LG - Lw 5700/ 6500

3. Sony - 1 year Asia warranty.

Samsung - 1 year, Warranty card with dealer stamp.Technically you will get NONE.

4. Custom's/Airline freight charges.

5. Some have good some have bad...its your choice to buy and feel happy/sorry.
 
Thank you for your reply. I know many who have got LCD's from abroad ( different locations), and almost all are satisfied...

1. Is it true that customs would be charged if INR amount exceeds 25K, then customs @ 36% would be charged on difference amount ?

2. Would doing jugad/setting at airport help to save this duty ?

3. App. including all how much would it cost me for above mentioned models, how much cheaper than Indian counterparts ?

4. Bangkok/phuket cheaper than Dubai as well. If yes can you please specify in %.

1. Yes it's TRUE.

2. Yes.

3. Depends on model and screen size.

4. Bangkok/Phuket is cheaper than Dubai but not much, a mere 3-5 % if my guess is correct.

Personally i have not tried Dubai.

Note : You should have (+ / -) 5 % for prices in reality.
 
Thanks again, if the difference is only 3-5% then i would prefer to buy from Doha / Dubai as i have my brother there. Will ask him to check for deals.

Now what all models should i look for -

1. 46"

2. 3D

3. Full HD

Apart from this, what panel to look for. Checked [font=arial, sans-serif]www.lcdtvthailand.com & prices of LED very high. All 3D 46" above 60-70K, that's high ( excluding duty & other charges ) [/font]
 
What is your total budget ?

1. Sony NX 720 / Samsung D6600 , D7000, D8000 / Lg 6500

2. All above are 3D

3. All above are FHD

Panel - SPVA.

You will get that panel in all top end model's of different brands.

That website collects prices for all over retail chains in Thailand, not exact prices.
 
Thanks again Jhononweed. My budget isd 40-50k including all expenses., If that would not suffice then would try to increase budget maximum to 60k. ( not sure though )

Ex720 / LG 5700 - 40 "

I don't think you will get 46" in that budget, try to increase your spending upto 70-75K.

Why don't you wait and hang on till 2012 model's go for retail sale.?

2. Also would waiting give me better deals on 2011 models ??

3. Also these 70-75k models, costs how much in India ?
 
1. April-May , 2-3 months at most.

2. Yes many retailers will put 2011 models on clearance list...so you can expect good price on many depending upon geographical location & new stock arrival of 2012.

3. 40% or so more....
