Hey guys

Finally time for my upgrade. Been spending the last 3 years on a shitty Pentium 4 with 512MB Ram :bleh:

Budget is around 55K. I haven't OCed before, but I am really fascinated by it, so would like to at least give it a try. This is what I've decided so far

Motherboard: Abit IP35P 5.4k

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 7.6k

RAM: Gkill 2x2GB DDR2 800 4.3k from KMD Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

GPU: HD 4850 11.5k

HDD: Western Digital 640GB SATAII 3.7K

Cabinet: CM690 4k

SMPS: Corsair VX450 3.2K

Optical Drive: Already have BenQ writer, but I guess I'll need IDE to SATA connector.

Speakers: Altech Lansing MX5021 6.5k (already got these)

Monitor: Dell 19" Dell E198WFP 10k

Total - Approx 56K (keyboard/mouse are seperate). So is sound card.

What do you think?

Also need suggestions on what to buy for OCing (which cooler, fans etc)

dont get the e8400

wait a coupla weeks.. get a e7300 for around 5.5-5.8k or a e7200 for around 4.5-4.7k

with the lil you save on the proccy, spend it on the msi neo45F mobo.

get a XigmatekS1283 for around 2.4k from kmd. its a very very good hsf. comes with a good fan too.

I might buy the E7200 which might save me a couple of thousand.

What's the difference between P45 and P35 chipset?

Also, what's the price of Dell 20' monitor?

DELL 20" monitor is for about 14.7K
you can get LG 22" 11.8K
VIEWSONIC 22" 15k
AOC 22" 12K

.............
you have arranged descent rig :hap2:

just follow suggestion of sTalKer about proccy n mobo .

if really wanno OC then get XigmatekS1283 good hsf ..2.4K FROM KMD
or OCZ VEDDENTA 2 via KMD 2.7K

ASUS P5-Q good P45 chipset mobo ---8.2K

Can you please tell advantage of P45 chipset over P35?

The P5Q-E is more expensive than IP35-P and I've heard that Asus service in India is very bad.

Could you suggest best 20' I could get within 12k. 22' is too big.

P45 runs cooler, overclock more, consumes less power, all due to 65nm.

P5Q-E is enthusiast mobo, IP35-P is budget mainstream mobo, less features, thats why price differance, Rashi service has improved now. IP35-E is better than P, P is very scaled down mobo, not in features but PCB quality, capacitors etc.

why 20" ?? get 19 or 22", 20" r not VFM. Get L.G. L226WTQ, or Dell if U can buy online and can wait.

I'm not sure but the Biostar p45 retails for around 7k and is very good OC mobo.

Also Xigmatek S1283 or OCZ vendetta coolers are the ones to go for but there push pins suck and causes bending of mobo. It will be better if you get a Crossbow retention Kit with them.

And get a 19 incher if your into online multiplayer FPS games. IMHO 22 inch is way to big for that. If ya wanna watch HD movies n all then get the bigger screen.

Thing with 20' monitor is, I want to have 1680x1050 resolution, but the 22' monitor is too big. That's what I want 20'. Will be used for gaming.

Not sure about motherboard now? IP35-E isn't available, and I don't know any good one in that price range. Any suggestions?

Good Choice. But since you're spending so much, you might as well invest a little in your GPU. Why not get a HD4870?
