... besides pushing everyone towards the new tax regime.

Less than a day away from one of the most anticipated and most disappointing day of the year.

I would like to see Indian policy makers waking up to reality and restarting the semiconductor chip fabrication efforts locally .
We were not that far behind on semiconductors but somehow the R and D facility itself caught fire ( arson probably ) and now we are dependent forever

Rumours of some tax relief for those paying income tax have been floating around for the past few days. Some revision of brackets hopefully. Much needed but I believe highly unlikely to happen. If only this were an election year.

Even if it does come, the effective benefit will be like 1-2K in hand per month.

True I guess. But we really need a shot in the arm because the whole country is dejected and just going through the motions with no real hope for the future. Or so I feel. Maybe it's just the "news" I consume; as far as Insta posts and Reddit headlines can be called news.

Net net, we need some real positivity real soon because Ambani megaweddings are fun for only so long before people start questioning why those tables are straining with the weight of food that no one is eating while their own plates are barely adequate.

We all yearn for tax relief but I don't think it will come, even if it comes it will just be a token.

I wish the govt finds ways to expand its tax base rather than trying to squeeze more. If they do, they will not have the need to find innovative ways to tax the salaried more.

Your typical neighbourhood "small" store or business earns more money without paying their fair share of tax dues and to add insult to the injury, they also claim govt benefits and subsidies aimed for the poor.

few days after budget, visit any CA and he/she will proved it as Lollypop, every govt. (Center or State) do same, as they have Tax as main source to offer freebies.
This freebies culture to every one (Except to Economically Backward Section) will kill Indian Economy.

we wont progress until large farmers are under tax net and many gig workers who earn handsomely and don't pay tax .But Farmers are vote bank and a useless opposition will put pressure. government is so good at indirect tax , they should bring large farmers under taxation in direct taxation. make compulsion of transferring payment of food grains via digital payment so that that money is tracked .If they can take subsidy digitally than they should also accept money digitally .Restructuring the slabs national health security wherein everyone is covered Initially collect money like Mediclaim but post retirement you are covered .Price regularization if there is Max retail price than why not Minimum price .Stop stupid surge pricing .Minimum wage should be defined for all .Bloody hell India needs lot of cities/towns with with affordable housing along with multiple SEZ alongside it .Not just stupidly extend existing cities by adding "new" in existing name. Reduce regularization in lot of sectors. if the minimum base salary is increased the economy could be self sustaining.

is their tax on large farm producing farmers? what is taxing criteria for those farmers, I mean how much income they generate to enter in tax bracket?
Gig workers earn handsomely, that much, that they fall under tax criteria, how much they earn yearly?

Till now I read that there is no tax in India on Farm Produce and Gig workers don't earn much !!!

Want to be tax free? Open a momo/food stall with some prefix such as "garib" or your educational qualification, as long as it's at least beyond 12th pass.

As an average lower middle class individual who has diligently paid income tax every year for the past 15+ years, and yet cannot get a simple certificate from a government office without being shuttled from pillar to post for at least 5 days, I have become accustomed to expecting absolutely nothing in terms of budget, irrespective of the party in rule. An average income tax payee will get peanuts in terms of rebate or altered IT slabs that is not at all in par with how pricey everything is becoming each day. The purchasing power is only decreasing year on year, in my opinion.
