The config is good..but lga 775 will be phased out by septemeber. So its better if u switch to amd platform.

This is a very good config and +1 for this....

But is feel corsair VX450 will be better bet at 4K... It can handle the HD4850 with ease.... Else the 550 version jus to be future proof........:eek:hyeah: But for occasional gaming i would suggest a rig for around 35K as it would save ya money.... This config is a mid-range gaming setup.......

The marked ones are bit changeable

ASUS M4A78-E (or) Gigabyte MA790GP-UD4H - biostar board runs hot

Corsair VX450 or 550

As for spending CM690 we can get Zebronics with good ventilated airflow !!

Benq E2200HD is good go for Samsung 2233sw or Benq G2220HD is better

Go with AMD, it rules the mid/mid-high end of the market right now. If possible, go with an AM3 mobo and DDR3, since one of the main reasons for going the AMD way is the better platform, and so it doesn't make sense to do it half-way.
If you can spend more, you can consider a core i7 based config, however i think even a 50k rig is overkill for you since you don't want to play games.

AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE - 5k

Biostar TA790GXB A2+ - 4.5k

Transcend 2x2GB 800MHz 2.3k

WD 640GB AAKS 3.5k

Palit Sonic GTX 260 - 11k

Corsair VX450 3.8k

CM 690 4.5k

Benq 24" G2412HD 12k

Altec Lansing VS4121 3k

Total 49k~

HD 4770 is best suited, very low power consumption, great for occassional gaming, approx 4k savings, go for better case like HAF 922.

this ones a better config. But sidhu HAF 922 for normal usage. Spending 6k odd on a case?

Also isnt it better to get a CF board biostar gxb 128m for 6k n CF 2 x 4770 wud run cooler, quiter, lesser power and more performance. Since 4850 is 6.5k odd now...4770 should be around 5.5-5.8k wen it arrives

although cf board sounds tempting for the small price difference...it will be unused since he mentioned no heavy gaming...

i dont even understand why he allocated 50k budget for general purpose computing....he can easily save upto 10k in that if he chooses to buy what he requires n not what he can afford...

if general computing and 50k are must... then i would suggest investing more in real estate (read screen size).

or...for that sort of budget for such machine... he can settle for am3/ddr3 based platform...sumthin he can afford now n sumthin which will be better considering ddr2 will be obsolete whenever he wants to upgrade/replace memory...

^ I agree. I believe 50k for general use/net surfing and light/moderate gaming is a little high. I have a c2d 2.66 and a 8400gs which does the same job for me @ 35k total.
