Thinking of buying the Samsung feature packed touchscreen phone, The i8910 Omnia HD.
Sells for 26-27k I think, and has AWESOME features like 640x360 3.7" 16M AMOLED Display :O and 720p HD recording :O
This gives serious f'in compition to the ~28k N97 :2guns:

So what I'm looking for here is that, I would really appreciate if anyone who has used this phone personally would post about his experience and point out any flaws or drackbacks, if any..

Pretty f'in awesome eh? :D

LOOKS EXCELLENT!! :O
NO I mean- MIND BLOWING!!!!

Haven't tried this yet but I did get my hands on Samsung jet though. That too is an excellent+mind blowing phone in its range.

excellent user interface + LOUD SOUND! :O
I feel that both of them have a same built. Didn't research on that. :D

Didn't like its camera though.(of Jet)
But what I see here is seriously astonishing!!

If I had that budget I would not stop myself to get this beauty.

P.S. - It is highly recommended though to try it once or wait for more user reviews before you buy it.

I have the phone and have used it for about a month now. Its just "okay".

It has area's where it shines, such as Video Playback, Camera / HD recording. And it has area's where it flops big time, its not intuitive enough, i.e, your typing a message, you tilt the screen hoping to get a full qwerty layout but nah dah.

No multi touch as well. Responsiveness is pretty awesome though, i have never used other touch screen phones and that "awesome" comment came from my friends who have iphones and the likes.

Overall, i just needed a touch screen for watching movies, making calls, and a digi cam, and i never read any review covering the flaws that i have covered. But meh, when your using the phone, and you play a video and you show it off to people, they go "OMG the clarity is ****ing awesome", and thats why i got this phone, needed something to watch movies on while i was on the go. =)

Recommendation :- Get the Omnia 2 when its available here. An 800mhz app proc.

I have tried this phone and I found that it is not pocket friendly, its big and bulky.

ya,you are right.
somewhere in a review of HTC TOUCH HD the guy mentioned to take the phone out of the pocket every time you sit else it could break the screen.
how funny is that??

A friend of mine has the phone and I used it for a bit and felt that the phone is

a) too bulky - kinda felt like carrying around a TV remote/ scientific calculator

b) the touch is over-responsive - while trying to type an sms, my finger hadn't even touched the screen but somehow some character got typed {though my friend who uses the phone says its not a problem for him}

c) The cam is good

d) sound clarity is good

Basically I didn't "love" the phone - for the amount of money, the features are good enough but there is no "that kick-as$" feature which would make me go absolutely crazy about the phone.

I'm getting 10days old piece for 19-20k :D
It weights 148grams, only 8g heavier than my N81, So thats not going to be an issue

Went and saw this today. It's thin and the display is so freakin huge :D
I'm scared that I might break it keeping in the pocket :( Lets see

I wonder if omnia hd does not have a kickass feature then which phone on the face of the planet has that ?

Its hit or miss phone.

The lack of multi touch can be royal PITA while smsing or emailing. You will either adjust to it over time or you will end up hating the phone.

But what worries me the most is lack of speedy updates from samsung to fix the issues that this phone already has.

err if you're referring to my earlier post, then please let me know what kick as$ feature does Omnia have which other phones in a similar price range don't.

I'm not saying that its without any features etc. All I'm trying to say is for the money it offers pretty much regular features ;)

720p hd video and excellent 8mp camera , awesome 3.7" oled display, omap 3430 chipset .. ohh..the list is very long ..modded firmwares ..what else u need in a phone.. If u want ui ui .. then look elsewhere ..I guess it cheaper than n97 and offers truckload of features over it ..

I had a iphone 2G once, sold it off after a month of usage. Didnt really like it as such. Don't really care about multi-touch.
Please elaborate more on the issues this phone(i8910) already has..

No 26-27k phone has 720p video recording, an 8MP camera, AMOLED 3.7" display, Symbian OS, a capacitive touchscreen, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Magnetometer and a 600mhz processor with seperate a graphic hardware accelerator

+1

Though samsung generally sucks as far as firmware update is concerned, they are doing better than usual as far as omnia hd goes.I would have got it if it was available for 25-26k in june ..I got N86 instead in june and it took nokia whole 4 months to get its camera performing at its peak with ver 20 firmware.

I would go with omnia hd ..If u want more user info then check howard forums ..

And yes about bugs and software issues , each and every smartphone irrespective of os has that and we can only hope to get it fixed in future soft update. Maybe n95 8gb or n82 I have used had very few bugs that bothered too much..

^^ the problem is with region support.

Even when the EU / south east asia got update, Indian users didnt receive the first update for weeks. And last month Russia, HK received update, we didnt.

What were the bugs/issues that the new firmware is suppose to fix?
Is bad s/w support really a deal breaker?
