Buying Xbox Advise???

I was planning to make a HTPC earlier. But, the ability of XBOX to run movies , music and most importantly games gave it a better appeal. The whole thing will cost me below 18k. I doubt, a 18k PC will be able to match the specs of XBOX like dolby 5.1.
 
Well then Buy it ! I swear u will Regret ur decision after 1 month ! It seems u r looking for entertainment ( movies , songs )more then gaming ! Although xbox and PS2 can play DVD movies and audio songs but its satisfactory ! Believe me u will hate watching movies on the Xbox or the PS2 for that matter ! Chaos is Right u better buy a Low end PC as gaming is certainly not ur priority ! I Repeat if u r thinking xbox is ur complete entertainment solution , Think again ! Its only good as long as it is being used for gaming and Nothing more ! And u r spending 18k on the whole Thing :O ? Thats Just Rediculous :rolleyes: !

Dude If u r in ur Right Mind then do this : Buy a Modded PS2 ( 7k ) , Buy a good branded DVD Player ( 5k ) and get a good branded 5.1 speakers ( 6k ) ! That Sums up to 18k !:)
 
Please do some research before you post over here. PS2 Linux is only installable in HDD enabled PS2. The new slim model doesnt has HDD compartment and the old fatboy lacks network adaptor. Both of them are important to me as I will be streaming and storing my DVD back up on the HDD.

wasn't clear to me whether you're going to be getting Old Fatboy or Slimline, and i've done my research. What i was stating was a simple fact and it still is (wasn't even directed at you), its requirements however aren't comfortable enough for you and are a different story. Think before you start sproutin claims on others before posting next time.

And btw, the fatboy still has many advantages over the slimline, including that online gaming can be cracked for pirated games on fatboy and not on the slimlines, is even reported to be more stable and doesn't heat as much as slimline does.
 
But I Guess Slimline is still better then Fatboy ! slimline is less then half the size of the fatboy , has an inbuilt adapter , Looks much much better especially the silver one ! I have never had any heating Problems and we all know its a Pain in the a$$ to go online in INDIA !

Param I Think u are having the slimline right ? And sometime back u Posted that u were able to succesfully go online !what happened then ?
 
Sony has a tradition that way though, PS - Ps1, Ps2 - Slimline, Ps3 - ? lol.

And not all slimlines are bad, but the number of users having probs with slimlines is more than the fatboys above the Scph-3X versions.
 
Just saw some XBOX 360 getting hacked. Maybe, I will hold on for sometime, before I buy one. I have estimated a price of 18k, considering a price of 10k for an unmodded XBOX v1.6b. The mod chip cost 60$ includding shipping.

PS2 for 7k!!! Plz tell me where you get for 7k. The cheapest, you will get is for 8-8.5k.
 
I bought my modded slimline for straight 8.2k. i think its the cheapest.

@Bluff - Sony has implented 2 security checks before a game (made after mid-2003) enters its online servers.
1. DNAS ID (or the game disk ID, different for every piece of game like serial numbers for a PC game)
2. Console/Machine ID

Both id's must pass before they get online allowance. Now bypassing the DNAS id is a child's play, all you need it to make a backup of the game with your own Dnas id which must be different so that no other game with the same id is online.
But the machine id is hard to change, its like changing the identification of the ps2 itself. machine id can be changed in fatboys, and must be changed so that the ID complies with the region of the game (Pal ps2 for pal online games), BUT, somehow, crackers still haven't found a way to change that in slimlines, as if Sony has specially made it crack-proof.

Though games BEFORE miod 2003, do not require DNAS id to pass, so they can be played on any region/any machine id ps2. So i got online on Action Replay MAX to download cheat updates to my memory card :P since then waiting for the scene to release a machine id changer for the slimlines, the day that releases, the day i'll be playing online like hell on the slimline :D

In Palika bazar at Delhi u would easily get a Modded PS2 with memory card for 7.5k !This is No america dude so dont expect to get the Mod-chips of ur choice ! But anyways the Guys at palika r professionals and there Modchip is Dam Good !U R Really a confused Guy ! First clear ur doubts and Facts and then come here and Post ! :)
 
I bought it from Palika too. You can always ask the modchip the ps2 is coming pre-installed with. OR you can also buy a clean ps2 and bring a shipped modchip of your choice and it installed there for a fee.
 
Yes, I am very well from India. What facts of mine are considered wrong. You never get a modded PS2 for 7k as you have mentioned earlier. Secondly, those modded PS2 doesnt comes with the really good mod chips. Whats so confusing over here? In fact, Mr BM, you need first need to learn to talk politly. There was absolutly no need to show any kind of attittude. Secondly, plz clear your own fact on the benefits of Ghost or Matrix mod chips over those cheap ass 10$ mod chips. I will tell you the biggest one. The biggest two problems PS2 faces is laser burnout and blown up power supply. The original PS2 BIOS is suppose to shut off lasor when not needed and also has extra voltage protection system. The mod chips are firstly used to override the security checkup for he right disc inserted. But along with these, the lasor saving system and extra voltage protection system also get overriden. The Ghost and the Matrix Infinity series of mod chips have those stuff also programmed in, so that your PS2 works exactly like a PS2. Secondly, with a help of a custom switch, you can switch over to the original BIOS and you can play your original games over the net, something which is not possible on those 10$ mod chips. Also, the Ghost series has reported atleast 99.9% compatibility with the games released. The pre instaleld mod chips always has some problem playing games from a different region like "Devil May Cry" original game japaness game. There are many games which get released in Jaapaness first and then get a english transalation after three months.

Though, I never owned a PS2 personally, I have certainly operated on it more than you can even imagine.

And as Far as PS2 cost is concerened Give me 7k and I will get u one from Delhi ! If somebody is making u a Fool its not My problem ! I am using the PS2 for the past 2 years with the so -called local cheap 10$ Mod-chip ! I Haven't Faced any sort of Problems so Far (Touch wood ) ! The only problem I once faced was regarding the controller ! All the games back-up and orignal work Like charm on my PS2 !

But wait a Minute... U Buy a PS2 or a Ferrari , why should I care ! U asked for a suggestion and I gave it to u like a good member ! Now I really dont wanna be Rude so I will stop here... , but remember to be a little Polite next time speacially when someone is tryin to Help u !

Yea, why shud u care regarding what I buy, then you shud have never interfered in my thread. :P . That shows how much you care about me. Dont worry, next time if I will buy a ferrari, I will ask your advise. :hap2:
