Whenever I do any minute CPU intensive work (like playing HD video at vimeo.com) on my PC, my Intel Desktop Utilities immediately warns me that processor temp has reached critical level i.e. 70 degrees.

At the same time, CPU Temp (ver 0.95) shows:

Tjunction: stays constant at 85'C
Core #0: varies between 62-64 degrees
Core #1: varies between 62-64 degrees

Also, normally the CPU is silent, but it makes its noise when temp goes up.

Also, the screen creates some jittering which blinks lightly.

This jittering happens often now :( Even if temp is normal at around 50-52'C

I'm facing this problem since long time:
http://www.techenclave.com/graphic-cards/new-gts250-gives-prob-145842.html

Is it due to GPU or CPU?

Oh yes, I thought cleaning the heat sink (i.e. by removing the company applied heat sink paste) would help a little, so I had removed that paste. But, it did not help any. Read somewhere that cleaning it also helps, thats why.

So, please give me a solution. Will applying a good heat sink paste solve the problem? If yes, which paste should I go for? And its price in Lamington Road, Mumbai?

my specs are:

C2D 2.66ghz
intel dg33fb mobo
trans 2gb + ocz 2gb (both 800mhz)
1tb + 250gb seagate
samsung 2233sw
CM Elite (maybe 335)
vx450

-Thanks

The paste is know as TIM. (thermal interface material). It is required. Decent brands (though not exhaustive are):

CM Nano Fusion

Arctic Silver

Tunix Tx2

^ Did you miss the previous post? asingh answered your query. Buy some new thermal paste, read a guide on how to apply it correctly and you should be good.

^ I hope that jittering is not due to gpu

anyway, can i know latest prices of:

CM Nano Fusion

Arctic Silver

Tunix Tx2

and can I apply any of these TIM to GPU as well if reqd?

^ Yes, you can apply them to the GPU core as well.

I recommend Tuniq TX2, easy to apply, non conductive and great performance. Will cost you about 200INR for a small 3.5 gram syringe.
