Hello folks,
Hope to have someone related to dentistry field answer this one.

What would be the most recommended material should a dental 'cap' be made of so that it matches with the color of the rest of the teeth and also be a permanent solution which must not look like a fake one.

Most of the doctors that I consulted recommended the ceramic-porcelain cap. Will that be a correct decision to go for this in the long run ? I don't mind shelling out more money but dont want to be bugged over this thing again.

Please bring in your suggestions

Thanks in Advance.

Which tooth is undergoing treatment? Ceramic would be the best, although ceramic fused to metal is also an option. Ceramics give the best colour match.

Depends on tooth concerned.

Ceramics will give you best results, but are prone to fracture. So indicated only in anterior teeth.

PFM or Porcelain fused to Metal are better suited for posterior teeth and are aesthetic but will eventually cause damage to occlusal surfaces of opposing teeth.

You can go in for a PFM crown with metal occlusal surface in case of posterior teeth.

Why dont you go for a tooth removal and put in a permanent fixture. Its as good as a new tooth. My mom had this done.

Maybe a few dentists can suggest on this?

^^ Bad option. Tooth extraction should never be opted for unless really indicated. Nothing can replace a natural tooth perfectly.

Its the Maxillary central incisor, the left one.
So should Ceramic-Porcelain be the way to go ?

No dentist would suggest that. Removing the tooth would mean need of a fixed partial denture and would mean load of three teeth on the two supporting teeth.
Also the bone surrounding the tooth starts to resorb after the tooth has been extracted.

Yes, it is the most recommended option.

Take care of the cap. I got ceramic porcelain cap on one tooth. Most of the outer shell broke of when I was trying to chew dairy milk eclairs :P. So go easy on them.

For a maxillary central incisor a Procera crown Alumina would be the best bet in terms of aesthetics.it's a bit high on the cost, but would be closest to the shade of your original teeth.

I'm going for a titanium dental implant(for maxilliary central incisor); the doc is saying total expense would 25k(or 15k for a cheaper type) for one tooth. Is this reasonable?

For the anterior tooth you are looking at Ceramic - Porcelain is the way to go.

@ALL Dentists..

Didnt want to create new thread so question here.

Which is best way to remove yellow pluck (I think its called so) jammed near teeth ?

Are there toothpaste which can do it or need to go for Dental cleaning only ?

hi,

i got 3 caps all made of pure porcelain (without any metal backing.metal backed teeth looks little black in light and gives feeling of artificial teeth to others, but are stronger that pure porcelain tooth.porcelain caps gives nearly perfect match with your teeth color.)

i had no problem until last year(i got the caps from last 6 years because of my accident ) ,but this year some sensitivity is in one of the tooth.so, make sure to get your RCT(root canal treatment) properly before any cap fixing.

whichever tooth type you decide, you need to visit dentist for regular checkup every 6 months to 1 year.

you will be advised not to open beer bottle cap with you treated teeth :P
