It looks like i have caught Viral fever. The whether is changing in Delhi, and viral is spreading fast.:@

Yesterday i felt very lethargic, and in night i had a very runny nose, coupled with Fever. The fever range between 100-101.5 F.
Even today i am having fever and my body is feeling like breaking up into a 100 pieces. :(
I read in a newspaper today that this could be signs of Upper respiratory tract infection.
Is it advisable to visit doctor and get antibiotic treatment, or is is that it subsides on its own? I dont have shivers, vomiting, diahhrea, but feeling very lethargic and even getting up from Bed is feeling like climbing a 100 stairs.

Me just got done with Viral Fever ....Am from Mumbai...It was such that i had to even take blood checkup for Malaria.........lasted 5 days........did nothing but slept around the full time.....

get well soon , take proper meds...
 
one of my friends ignored his cough and now hes in the hospital with all sorts of tubes connected to him

as such what is labelled as a viral fever is a disease consisting of reaction of body to the changing atmosphere and some times when the antigens cant be cleared then it leads to fever / cough / cold / chills / stuffy nose.

usually viral diseases are self limiting. Only medications you need to take are symptomatic medicines like analgesics / antipyretics / anticold.

If the disease does not control with medicines or continues for more that two days even after medicines then you need to consult your family physician.

Precautions and Care :
Take a lot of water daily.
Take warm saline gargles 5/8 times a day
Take plain steam inhalation two times a day.
Avoid Icecold and sweet items as much as possible
Try to reduce spicy and oily content in your meals.
If necessary take ample rest.

Antibiotics are only necessited when there is superadded infection and it has to started only after consulting you doctor.

@spacescreamer : if are hearing appraisals by your GF / HR manager very well and dont hear shouts why should you worry? j/k :P

On a serious note regarding your hearing what kind of sensation you have? do you feel heavy with ears? do you feel just deaf? or it hapened while cleaning ears? or did you have any bouts of ear ache / URTI / any other diseases? do you have kind of ringing noise in ear?

these are the general questions regarding your history of disease and then physical examination is required.

I can gide remotely with your description of disease, but remember nothing can match a physical examination. So if it is hampering your work do consult your ENT surgeon.

Take erythromicine (500mg) - 3x1, and cetirizine - 1x1 with some ORS and cough syrup for 3-4 days.

WARNING - I'm not a doc, so don't sue me in case this liquidates you.
