Currently my config is Intel 2180 proc, Asus G31 based m/b (P5-KPL-VM), 2gb DDR2 RAM.

I am happy with the config. problem is all my daughter's movies (walt disney stuff) is on the hdd, and she can't watch it when I am working. Can I simply buy an extra monitor and a display card, and route the video/audio of the movie to the new monitor, while continuing to work at the same time?

Actually I am doing something similar with the audio. I have a Terratec soundcard installed as well. The default sound card is the onboard soundcard, which is connected to 2 small speakers on either side of the monitor. But when I play music through Foobar, the output comes from the Terratec which is connected to a Marantz amp and Monitor Audio speakers. This is possible because through Foobar, I can choose which soundcard to use to output the music. I was thinking if there is a video playing software which allows me to choose the display and sound option it would be great!

you don't need GPU to play movies on a second display. Just get the display first and only if the onboard becomes too slow, get a graphics card. An 8400GS should do

ah okay. my onboard has one VGA and one DVI out. sorry for the confusion. get the cheapest card you can get from the market.

well i have an old xfx 8400 se 512mb for sale.

it has one vga , one dvi and one tv out port.

i'll bundle a dvi to vga converter

warranty is till 3/3/2010 and can be obtained directly through rashi perpherals

all yours for rs1500

this card will be needed if you dont have two display outputs

through the graphics card you will be able to show different things on different displays

thx for the replies guys...as i said my m/b is asus G31 based. it has only one display.

thx for the offer rdst! i am based in mumbai. when i take a final decision on what to buy, i'll get in touch with u!

@desiibond, can u suggest any models of the card that u recommend? I understand any card that has a DVI output right?

For the second display, can i buy the current 22" LCD monitors? Can I also connect the output of Tatasky to this, so i can dispose off my TV?

thanks for the replies!
