Conencting a PS2 to a LCD monitor through a tv tuner card be any good? As in the lag and clarity?

Or is there a composite cable availabe?

Any suggestions?

you can connect it to an LCD monitor, you don't even need a tuner card, just buy a converter

and what did you mean "is there a composite cable available?"

what converter...?

i meant a cable to connect directly the PS2 with LCD monitor.
does your monitor have a composite and component port?

cause PS2 comes with a composite cable

you can also buy a component for 1080i games on PS2

the converter i meant,if your LCD monitor only has a VGA or DVI port then you can use a converter to convert the composite to connect to the VGA or DVI ports on ur LCD

So basically all i need is a converter? Its a regular monitor with VGA port. Will it affect in any way the performance?

you need this

Will cost you ard 250 bucks locally and make sure it is bidirectional.

It's the default composite AV cable that you get with your PS2. The pic that dark nemesis posted only have AV inputs and VGA connector. Whereas, Sony's proprietary AV cable has a different input which goes into the PS2.

What you need is something like this (if you have component cables for your PS2): XCM 1080P VGA BOX review by owenb321, consumer reports & videos

If you have only the composite cables, then you need this: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-COMP2VGA-Console-Monitor-Converter/dp/B00006B8EI/ref=pd_sbs_misc_4

BEWARE: The video quality would be very poor using composite to VGA converters and nothing compared to connecting it to a TV.

it was the cable you get with your PS2,composite cable

you need to connect the end that goes into the TV in the converter

you can also get a SONY component cable,it is far better

I am confused now.....sorry for asking noob questions but i need to clarify:

1) should i get component cables?
2) ps2 - component cable - converter - monitor? is this the sequence?? And composite cables are bundled with the PS2, but component cables would be better?

3) And by connecting the above sequence i can have a smooth gameplay or not?

I think i am repeating the quest but i am really confused !
sorry guys !

not necessarily

you can play games on composite cable included with the PS2 too

i was just saying as composite can't do HD games on PS2 cause it can't carry the image.

component cable allows that

2) ps2 - component cable - converter - monitor? is this the sequence?? And composite cables are bundled with the PS2, but component cables would be better?

that sequence is correct,if you are using the composite then it will replace component in that sequence

composite cables are bundled with PS2

component cables are better as they can display HD PS2 games

3) And by connecting the above sequence i can have a smooth gameplay or not?

yes you will have a smooth gameplay

IN THE FIRST VIDEO THE BLACK PORT is for PS2

the other colored ones will go into the converter like the one below

and the below VGA will go into LCD

you donot need an Svideo
