My friend who is a busy practitioner, wants to arrange an audio set up in his clinic. He also needs to buy a MP3 player (probably Sansa Clip). So he wants to know if he can just connect the Sansa Clip to a Creative 2.1 speaker set. Will there be sufficient audio output to cover at least a room of 15' x 15' size? Or is a separate amplifier needed?
He is ready to spend a maximum of 4 to 4.5K, out of which around 2K would be spent for the Sansa Clip.

The question is how loud the speaker is. What kind of Creative 2,1 speakers is he going to use. Most PC 2.1 Speakers with 20 watts (RMS) or above will be enough to fill that room full of music.

buy a VS 4121 if you can make it fit in the budget . You dont need an amp, since they are already built in.

PS; why not a transcend ? you can get a lot more space for the same money :)

@Poga and Greenjay: Thanks.. He would be using a PC 2.1 speaker only.

@Greenhorn: I have PMed KMD to ask whether he has a Sansa Clip Plus 2GB version that was ordered in a GO. It cost 2k IIRC. That is what I'm planning to buy, 'coz it offers the option of extending the memory.
If that doesn't work out, I'll probably settle for a Transcend 4GB player.

Any ideas about which 2.1 speaker set is the best choice within the 2K range? I'm sure the VS4121 is impossible to accommodate. The budget is definitely not to exceed 4.5K. (Less than 4K total would be ideal).

Do note that the Sandisk runs on batteries so he will have to continuously charge the darn thing everyday.

You could run the transcend's off a mini usb charger ( what was used for the moto razr etc)

Not sure about the sansa though.

Charging wouldn't be a problem. His clinic would be open only for 4 hours a day. SO it would be enough if he charges once in 2 days, I think.

ANy ideas about which speakers to get..?
