Can access website only through Proxy. Even though Firewall isn't blocking it.

So I've come across a problem since yesterday.

I was able to access www.orkut.com without a problem till yesterday. And since yesterday, I cannot. The browser just tells me the site isn't responding. But I can access it through proxies.

My Firewall definitely isn't blocking it since I tried turning off firewall and checking.

Any ideas, folks?

Its really strange.

Its definitely not blocked in the hosts file.
I can't even ping it in command prompt.
I can access it through my laptop which is connected on the same network.

Its only my desktop that can't access it. Unless I use a proxy.
 
Hmm seems like a browser problem to me. Try these:-

1. Try clearing "everything" from your browser and then open the website. (Cookies, History etc.)

2. Try different browser(Firefox/Opera/Chrome).

3. Try re-installing your browser if above methods prove futile.
 
I have no idea what happened. But I can access the website again.

I'd already done the things you recommended and those hadn't worked.

Well who cares now.

All's well that ends well, eh?
