i want a PC only for gtalk/yahoo messenger PC-PC calls through mobile gprs so want it for as low as possible

this will be for my mom who will use it for calling my bro abroad

PC will be used for just 10-20 min. a day

NO gaming/overclocking stuffs like that

You can reduce the cost to 10k by going for a used 16" monitor for ~2k and or a used 160GB HDD for ~0.8k-1k

better search a p4 setup in the market section
Why age old P4 setup when a Sempron, DDRIII setup could be had for <10k with a few 2nd hand parts? Agreed he can get a P4 setup with CRT for around 5k but then they would be 5+ years and would close to end of their life cycles.

^^ Well i think has no use of these
AMD Sempron 145(2.8Ghz, 1 core) ---- 2.8Ghz is more then enough surfing+chating
2GB 1333MHz Hynix/Dynet DDRIII RAM---- 2GB ddr3 is waste of memory/money, 512mb ddr1 is enough (provided he runs XP)
250GB Seagate 7200.12 ----- even a 40Gb or 80Gb HDD will do

if he gets a p4 setup its good for both him and the seller, he gets the cheapest setup and seller off loads his junks:p

Oh man that is tight not even including the price for a monitor UPS and other secondary stuff the tightest is getting all these components second or maybe third hand with no warranty --

i had an option of a p4 setup for 6.5k

but a diff. of 3k will give some thing decent which can last for good 2-3yrs. [will be used rarely ... only 10-20 min. for a day] but p4 can go down any time
can any find a laptop/netbook under this range [obviously i am not talking abt new :D]

this PC will save me a monthly mobile bill of 3k

totally agree thats why not going for p4 @ 6.5k

@karti

i wud suggest u to go wid the rig DA suggested... Why buy something which is old... and i think all the p4 rig parts wud b out ov warranty... So a caution sign from my side :)... Plus Sempron 145 is a 45w CPU... So u can also use the rig DA suggested as a 24/7 downloading rig... it will consume way less power than the p4 rig... :)

You can check these:
Please refrain from suggesting such listing to members.

Reasons to avoid:
1. Its a auction and still no final price
2. The seller has only 12 feedbacks
3. Desc says "Original Packing Not Available / But Shipping with Nice packing ". No info in the item condition tab though the user claims it has one year warranty.

^^^ sory bro, will remove that link

@DarkAngel, can you remove that link from your post as well

1GB Ram would be good with 160gb hdd however a dual core processor would be better in the long run imo.

1GB DDRIII RAM has almost nil presence in the market and its not worth it going for a DDR2 setup coz 1GB DDRII RAM costs ~ Rs.750.
