Hello

I was wondering if it is possible to connect a 3090 to Asus ROG Ally? (i do not own the handheld btw).

I read that it is possible to do it using a PCIe eGPU enclosure (Razer Core X) but i do not want to spend money on that.

I am new to handhelds so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes via the USB4 port. There are a couple of options being sold, I came across one on mx2games. Ally also has that XG connector which would require buying their XG mobile. An open-source project I found (https://github.com/osy/XG_Mobile_Station), that might intrigue any tinkerers. As with these eGPU solutions, a bottleneck is to be expected and you can get some idea by looking to reddit experiences or techpowerup reviews for how a GPU scales with PCIe lanes.

Probably could just stream games from your pc to handheld on same network.
I am assuming Moonlight is an option to stream the games?

Does XG Mobile come equipped with a GPU or do i have an option to install my 3090 inside the XG mobile?

XG mobile does not come as enclosure only. GPU is built it and cannot be changed. Don't think it even has the space to fit a desktop GPU inside it. Also the price is too expensive for a throttled eGPU enclosure.
XG mobile is end of life and going to be obsolete as it is a proprietary port meant for ROG Ally and laptops. Newer Ally X has a USB 4 port for connecting external GPU.

If buying in India for the price of a Ally X + Enclosure you can get a full on high end computer or gaming laptop. Provided you have the 3090 already.
