Can I connect an apple watch to android

I got an apple series 9 watch from my previous company as a gift. I dont own any apple devices other than the watch, is there any easy way to connect the watch with my android phone ?

The watch is a key entry point into the Apple ecosystem. It's wild that they don't even let you set it up with an iPad.

Tbh the watch is absolutely worth it. If not for the watch, I might not have continued with apple ecosystem.
