Can I connect my Macbook Air to a TV?

My TV is now over 10 years old and has no HDMI etc. Wanted to know - if I get an HDMI input TV, can I connect my MBA to it and watch the online content [cycling races which are not telecast]?

If internet is streamed on a screen the size of a TV will it even be watchable? I suppose I would need a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter?

If all this is feasible, I need a suggestion for a 32" around 20K. In watch TV maybe 5 days in a year except for the cycling, so not worth spending more at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes with a HDMI input TV you definitely can. Generic Thunderbolt to HDMi adaptors works just fine too.

You can even buy cheaper. I remember buying mine for 350 from eBay and it worked perfectly.

Well, got one for 400/- from ebay and it works great. Actually just bought an adapter as I had a cable lying around. Audio was not being transmitted, till I realised I had to go to sound settings and chose the output to HDMI.
