'Any file' ?

I won't be sharing them of course. If I cannot, then does that mean that they have permissions to go through my files ? [cos I have never read TnC :P]

Well, I think that if they are kept for personal use only - should be OK. That would constitute fair use - you are just making a backup of your MP3s, etc.

However, officially, I guess the ToS of most of all the services will not allow you to upload copyrighted stuff.

yes they have permission to check any of your file even if they say we don't do it.Its best to pass protect what you upload.

I believe the file names can still be identified even if the rar/zip is encrypted. You might want to change that too before encrypting.

Well does it really make sense to rename 'those' files before you upload? When it comes to utilizing those files, it might turn out to be a PITA to figure out which file is what...

...unless I've completely missed something obvious here...

I am planning to keep a ripped copy of the many devotional CDs I have ~ about 20-30 odd ones ~ to a G Drive account. Looking at about 300MB per CD, should be around 9GB max.

And its a good thing I have rips - already 3 of the discs are unreadable due to scratches and 2 are broken!

^ how much space do you have on your G Drive? I had uploaded some pictures and that's taken up quite a lot of space and I don't think my G account has enough free space to continue uploading stuff...

Or does everyone here buy space from G?

WinRAR have an option to encrypt file name also and you could change the name of encrypted archive. When you would decrypt them would get the files with original file names.

as far as i know there is some 50 gigs of free space available on dropbox, box, drive etc. if one is using astro file manager on android .
others can confirm on their respective platforms

Mine is 25GB - took advantage of the free 10GB extra offer on installing QuickOffice. Currently, having about 15GB free. I use the free 2048x2048 limited photos only since I dont see the point in uploading higher quality.

^ as far as I know, the 10GB extra space for installing QO is for a year only..

and I want to 'back up' my pics on G drive (I do that on Flikr too..and Box and only a select few on a different G account - I'm paranoid that way :D) in the original quality - I don't personally see the point of backing up something after reducing the quality...

Firstly, the extra space is for two years. Secondly, I think by then, we would get extra space, so I would be having more or less 25GB of space. If not, then I shall go down the 15GB.

About the quality, these are basically for sharing with my family members - videos + pics - G+, since I prefer that over FB. I also plan to dumping a full size backup to flickr - where the space is a whopping 1TB.
