i would like to know if i'll be able to overclock my cpu using two brands of RAM; ie, OCZ platinum 2gb kit(1x2gb) and g-skill f2-6400 2gb(2x1gb) both @ 800mhz. below are my specs.

e8400 processor
biostar tpower i45 mobo
CM extreme power 600w smps
ocz platinum 2gb + gskill 2gb ram
CM elite 333 cabby
320gb WD HDD
Vendetta CPU cooler

any help appreciated.

You can. Same goes for the rams as well. Tweaking rams depends more on how they go well together but I dont think it should be an issue. Just OC them using the new bios and see how it goes.

should be no problem for u..i got two different company ram sticks and over clocked them a bit..ran for a few days stable...cpu overclocked too with the ram clocked up AND down..no problem

you might face some issues if you are overclocking to a higher level. The rams might hold you back when it comes to voltage settings. Different rams have different voltage limits. So be careful. :)

I'm also using two different brands of RAM. Yes, you can overclock your CPU.... but depending on the RAMs your options might get limited.

For example, I'm using GSkill Pi and Corsair XMS2 sticks... and XMS2 won't go past 840MHz at CL5 timings... while my GSkills can easily touch 890. So I'm stuck with 840 MHz on RAMs while CPU (Q6600) is doing 3.0GHz happily. :)

u wont face any issues till 1 of those ram sticks reach their upper limit during oc'ing.thats where ur gonna be limited.also be carefull with the vDIMM vals as some chips cant take high voltages.
