hello guys, have been experience some cable issues with my seagate freeagent 160gb 2.5" portable hdd. I am very sure the issue is with the cable only. Have been expereincing this quite for a long time.

Now, can i RMA the cable alone without the HDD ?. Since i have valuable info on the HDD and dont want to send it since its working fine. I have also tested the HDD with a cable supplied with a flash card reader and it works fine with that cable.

Also tell me from where in richie st., chennai i can get this cable ??

AFAIK Seagate Freeagent drives work very well with ANY mini-USB cables. As techies we all have so many lying around the house. From the camera, or MP3 player, flash card readers etc. use any of them mate.

Ahh. The problem comes there. I have 2 Fuji camera cables but they dont work well with the hdd. They work in usb 1.1 mode only . So its a waste..

Today I contacted seagate and they assured me that they will replace the cable :hap2:

i just bought USB to miniUSB cable in Rs 80 locally three days ago and my Transcend external hard disk working well with it.
