Can my home inverter be used as a PC UPS?

yes i agree on that, i personally have been using a sinewave inverter exclusively for pc for almost 3 years now and i have faced zero issues, use to check the battery water level every 4 months and that is it.
am planning to do this..
whats your model? battery ah capacity?

As @bloomfield295 said ensure that you check the battery water level on a regular basis. If you have frequent or longer duration power check the water level on a more frequent basis. I've been using a 800VA Sukam Falcon 12V pure sine wave inverter for around 6-7 yrs now in the UPS mode. It has powered my desktop, routers properly during power cuts.

Your best bet would be to get a cheap ups and a good sine wave inverter if you plan to game uninterrupted even during blackouts. Sine wave being the operational word.

A good sinewave inverter can do both the jobs- inverter and acting UPS mode .I have been using the same for like 3+ years no problem with power cuts whatsoever . It would be value for money too.
