hi all,
i recently purchased a nokia 5233 handset from a ebay seller. However, he didn't send me the bill through mail or courier but by email.

Please tell me if i take a print out then will this be considered a bill and whether i will be able to claim warranty based on this duplicate bill. He has not signed the document.

Nope not valid imo. Check out the "tin no" & "CST" field. Its empty. What you have got is a proforma/invoice but not a valid bill which could be taken to court of law if need be.

Others can validate ?

^^ those fields are not empty, they are edited out by the OP. (the blank space is in SELL TO column, seller column has valid nos. )

If those have valid CST / TIN, its fine.

yes...he indeed has given cst and lst no....it's just that i have blanked them out...so does that mean this bill will be considered valid if i take a print out ??

Yup.

those fields are the ones which matter. they shd tally with the records when you have to invoke anything regarding warranty etc.

TIN or the tax identification number is a unique number issued to business entities generally by the revenue dept.

this number can be used for identification purposes. One can identify the dealer by keying in the TIN.

CST is the central sales tax and if i remember correctly is used for sales outside the state.

TIN is used always though.

thanks very much...i checked the website of taxation department of delhi...it seems that he is a genuine seller and the bill is valid.
