Guys earlier I had 2 generic speakers but a month ago I got a 2.1 system. Now my query is is it possible in any way to utilize those two (earlier) speakers also so that I can make it a 4.1 speaker system.I have realtek onboard sound.

If your desktop/laptop has multiple hp/3.5mm output jacks( 3 usually) and you can find the 5.1 surround sound setting in your sound cards GUI, you are good to go!

There might also be a quadrophonic surround(4 channels) option. You can use the 2 nd hp jack to feed your older pair of speakers. The only thing is you will need a long 3.5mm cable if your speakers are active, computer speakers or long speaker wires if you have a speaker+ separate amp setup.

Dont bother for the 4.1 setup, IMO. Until you have a proper 5.1 channel, that is.

ON the other hand, you could use a splitter to give both speakers the same signal. That would be all right.
