1 thing, in some cases its allways better to go for a 1.5tonne AC than a 1T one. Thats because for the same room size, the 1.5T will have to work for lesser time than the 1T thereby consuming less energy.

my room is 120 sqft only :(....
darn .. i made a huge mistake !
no one`s happy !

Will now part for 15k only !!! 3k lesss than wat i bot for in 1day :(

^^ keep it urself dude, for parting away it for 15k and getting a 1Ton, don't think it makes sense actually.

Wait for others suggestion before you sell it off.

Yes , it happens to me all the time. Sooner or later they realize.

Happened with everything i buy at home.

Sometime parents behave stupid where you know better . no need of feeling guilty.

yup 1.5 tonne will have better and faster cooling so the compressor will be running for less time saving cash. rather than losing 3k now keep the a/c and save on electricity bills later. most air cons these days are pretty power efficent as well

Keep it dude..Thats the way parents are..

Dont see any sense in selling it..
To cover up one mistake ur doing another mistake which again u'l repent later..
So stand by ur decision, and AtleasT YOU enjoy the AC..They will all come by in time..

One day wen they'l come home tired and relax in the AC, they'l only hav good things to say..
So dont worry..

Happened to me many times with my mom. First it was for a mobile (she came to see the use when my train was late by more than 9hrs and we had no way of contacting) then a chordless phone etc.

Yaar,

If 1 Ton requires 15 minutes to Cool the room, now 1.5 ton may requires 10 minutes (so fast cool in short span of time - enjoy it) and power consumption is equal with less Load on Compressor.

yup the compressor will go down faster :D . and since you plan to set it on higher temps it will consume less power. no point selling it at such a loss . if the ac bill is more , compensate it from using it for lesser hours .

tell me one time when they (our parents) don't get angry about something we 'kids' do?

Also, what's done is done. They have to live with it :bleh: Think of it as a sweet revenge for what your dad bought/gifted you against your will as a kid.

All jokes apart, there is no point in selling it for a loss and buy a slightly inferior (capacity wise) product for almost the same amount u selling this.

Keep it. Tell your dad gifts are meant to be kept and not returned :)

Yeah dude, keep it. I'm sure deep down ur dad must be really happy that you have gifted him something, even if it doesn't look like that on the surface.

Arey yaar.. Tats d saddest thing.. Dad got upset with son's b'day gift. :(

Forget tat.. wat u've in hands rite now is a gem of a thing..
The Vertis range boasts of a high EER. Personally I've felt the differnce b/w this one and an O-General 1.5t..
Not to mention, tat powerful rotary compressor, will help ur room get cooled in an instant.. They offer a direct replacement in case the compressor fails..

My suggestion: Keep this one.. Perhaps if u move to a more spacious room, it'll help u better..

Jus like purchasing a 600W PSU wen a 400W one will do.. :)

Thanks to u alll
i have decded to keep it...
and if the elec bill goes more than 2k , i`ll pay from my pocket money !
thanks to u all for ur inputs

this is by far the best suggestions someone has given me

Good choice. I don't really understand why your father should be upset (that's your personal business anyway), but assuming he is upset that you spent more money on a 1.5 ton as opposed to a 1 ton, I don't think he woul dhave been very happy had you sold your 1.5 ton at a loss, and then bought a 1 ton. Essentially, you would have exchanged your 1 day old 1.5 ton with a new 1 ton - bad choice by any standards.

If you want, get your dad a techenclave login, and we'll put in a good word for you :p

erm... I hate to say this now.. since I had already offered to buy this one from Dinesh. Here goes . Lots of people say that since the tonnage is greater this a/c will cool faster. Sure it will. But here is the catch .. it will start and stop more frequently. Since it cools faster, it will not have enough time to remove the humidity from the room. Window AC

Read more in that link. Or do a google search and find out.

In my case, my work room is around 250 sft with one west facing wall and the rest shaded completely.. So I guess it is about right for me. (Of course, the suggested BTU is apparently higher than my requirements in the ratings shown on the Voltas site, which in a way would be overkill for ME too!!!) Here is another link with some tips for rough estimation of your requirements. Not foolproof, but it will give you some idea.

In any case, Dinesh me-boy.. You should have told me that you were reconsidering the offer. Inform me at the earliest if you have decided to keep it or if you are sending it across.

Buddy, An unnecessary Question.

How did you manage to buy a Ac with Pocket money :p

and i think your parents are more upset more upon its bills.

they might be thinking

1.5ton = bigger compressor = more wattage = more power consumption = Higher bills than its 1.0 ton counterpart

Anyways,

You made a wise act, by keeping it.;)

Surely a 1.5tonne A/C is not going to save power...

But you will get quick cooling in intense summers... Yes, will stop start frequently and that costs power too...

Try and sell with a loss of about 1500 or so...

Edit: Read that link specified by Lacameleon... too big an A/c does not dehumidify?? Thats news...

Maybe you should talk to the dealer...Tell him you are willing to sell it for 1-1.5k less.
