i can't overclock my 4670 512 MB GDDR3 form 750 to 778 Mhz.Tried ATI catalyst and Riva tuner separately. It works for some time but then my system stops responding after 2 -3 hours of gaming. My config is AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ @2.31Ghz,2GB DDR2@667Mhz, and 450W Standard PSU, WIndows Vista Ultimate and Windows XP Dual Boot.

May be you need a good PSU. But not much point in OCing the 4670 really. Its already clocked pretty high and not very famous for OC capability. My friend has a 4670 + E6300 @stock 1.8GHz. He tried to OC them separately and simultaneously. He observed 5-6 fps increment only after OCing the CPU. Btw, his screen size is 20". So the myth "Games are CPU dependent only on low resolution like 1024x768" is not much true. Besides, he OCed his CPU only 400MHz. :)

i game at 1440*900 mostly but for Crysis i had to play it at 1280*720 with high settings. so if i could oc my gpu i would get a better frame rate and would be able to game at 1440*900.

If you have a Palit 4670, they are'nt known/meant for overclocking - my personal experience after using 3 cards.

Try increasing both the speeds by 5 mhz increment and test the stability. Do not jump directly to a higher clock speed.

Try Riva Tuner with a compatible driver and set the fan speed to 100% in the initial phase of overclocking and then reduce looking at the temps, this should give you a fair idea how warm the card is getting when overclocked.

And yes, running a PC with or without overclocking on a cheap PSU means you are asking for trouble. I've learnt it the hard way.

:O My friend has E6300+Palit 4670 Super with 2GB Transcend 667MHz RAm. He plays at 1400x1050 (Acer 20") and CRYSIS runs smooth with avg 26fps at High setting. Once He OCed his procy to 2.2GHZ from stock 1.8GHz, he got avg 32fps. :)
