Can't run data recovery software on C: drive

I can't seem to run data recovery softwares on my C: drive. They run only if my HDD is connected as a logical drive rather than a primary drive. I tried many softwares but they all either give an error or don't give any results. For example, look at this image :

My file system is NTFS and my OS is Windows XP SP2..

How do ya fix this???
