I want to tint/film black my car's windows but i have heard thats you have to take special permission from RTO before getting it done. i want that just the sun rays should not heat up my car and i won't feel uncomfortable while sitting on the back seat from sun rays. it it allowed?? or i have to take some sepecail rto permit for that??

Re: car tinitng/filming windows help

A quality film from Vkool or 3M should be enough to block the heat from the sun. These films are allowed and only very mildly tinted. They range from 3k-5k.

Re: car tinitng/filming windows help

Go for the ones with around 75% visibility. Those are approved by RTO. No special permit is needed.

Re: car tinitng/filming windows help

From this DNA article

According to the city traffic norms, the windscreen and rear window of every vehicle has to be maintained such that the visual transmission of light is not less than 70%.

And the side windows have to be maintained such that visual transmission of light is not less than 50%.

harshit you can go for a good quality Sun film with higher heat rejection. Lumar, VCool and 3 M offers film with Heat Rejection upto 90% but it would cost around 6k minimum to get your sides and Front screen covered.

'Upto' is a dodgy term. Oh, i wonder what specific conditions actually would give you 90% heat rejection. How tricked out would the test have to be to attain that.

You can have 30% tint on the front & back & 50 on the sides, that means if you do the whole car, the best you can expect is 50%.
