Dear all,

It has come to my notice that some members are misusing the names of other members on TE,

especially those senior/reputed or with good enough iTrust ratings to promote their own products.

They may use the reference of such members to ask for higher sale price or seek some extra benefit from the deal, etc

You are hereby cautioned not to believe anyone claiming to be anyone's friend or having sought advice from anyone'

unless the third person himself/herself has put in a word for that member

or until you have PMed/mailed/IMed/phoned the other member and verified the claims of the buyer/seller you are dealing with for yourself.

That said- please do the same if any seller supports his/her high sale price or any buyer lowballs/supports his lower asking price using my name/id.

Thanking you.

Yours sincerely,

Bikey/Rishi. :hap2:

People using some reputed member's name, especially those who are known for fair pricing/good deals, to bargain with buyer/seller, especially to intimidate newbies.

eg. (1)

Someone, who knows you as senior, reputed, helpful member who is fair in pricing, calls me to buy something from me.

My price is high as i am greedy/unethical/immoral/.../criminal/...

I tell buyer that "cranky suggested me this price" or "i consulted/spoke to cranky and he advised me to sell its for what ia m asking for", etc.

eg (2)

I know xyz, he is a mod ( and i am friends with him)

or

I asked XYZ who is a mod and a friend and he told me this price is ok

etc

...

*Please do not spam in this thread.

The author of this post has spoken in general as observed in the recent past.

There is no need for anyone to bring up any names specifically.

Please read, comprehend and leave it at that and ensure you stay cautious.

Please warn other members/friends with whom you'll interact with on TE or any other forums too*

I'm confused. Can you please illustrate a little more clearly as my little brain cannot comprehend

I'm totally lost. What specific issue is this in reference to? Without that info this is not a very useful post.

Spamming for the day done.

That is what is happening.

Did you get it now? :)

Right. Much better. Specific instances?
None, has been specified to not name any, the thread is in Public Interest to inform people especially newbies to not fall for people who drop names to lowball

ya i also experienced This........will not mention the user name though.

But i said " tu usko janta hai toh mein kya karu " lolz:bleh:

I'm glad that bikey pointed that out.

i've recently noticed a Guy on E who PM'ed me regarding my sale products & told me that the mods there are his friends and he asked them if my product is worth that much.

i mean WTH,he was quoting me like 2k less for what i was expecting for that product and was saying that all those mods have told him that the product is worth that much.

please beware of such buyers/sellers.

I think members here are misusing the quotes put up in the 'How much can I sell this for' thread to lowball on others' sales. That is definitely not ethical. Anyways, it is upto the seller to decide what price is he willing to unload the stuff for. The buyer should not mislead the seller using the quotes from previous sales threads or misuse another member's identity.
