Hi,

I have a CBZ*. I face problems with the gears. I get them adjusted from the mechanic and after a weeks use they changing them gets harder, clutch slippage occurs (sometimes) and pickup drops by 1000 rpm.

I have heard from a few hero honda mechanics saying that this is normal with all CBZ bikes.

has anyone faced such problems with their CBZ models and is there any way to rectify it.

^^ what is the average lifespan of clutch plates? oil status ? you mean engine oil? it is within the limits.

I use Castrol Active4T. I have no idea of engine oils. just make sure that i get my bike serviced every 1500 kms and keep it clean every now and then.

guide me on engine oils. plz.

Get another set of clutch plates.

I had tried Motul 10W30 on my CBZ, the 165rs one. Bike felt much better than 20W40, vibes went down and acceleration improved by a tiny bit. That was the only oil I ever used on that bike :)

thanks sunnyboi. I'll look for it locally here. BTW what is the grade of the Hero Honda engine oils which they use in the service centers.

HH recommends 20W40 for the CBZ.

Food for thought, Unicorn and CBZ Xtreme have same engine, Unicorn recommended is 20W40 while CBZX is 10W30. Hmmm

Well, i'm not sure what harm is there in using 10W30 instead of 20W40, all I know is using 10W30 has worked for me and i will continue using it since it is working for me.

Did you show it to an authorised service centere mechanic? Also try tweaking with the cluth settings. I know there are a few setting which change the feel of the clutch release mechanism and the clutch cable. Still if problem persists then you can think of getting the clutch plates changed.

can i read more on motorbike engine oils.

How to recognize that a particular engine oil is good for the engine than the other? i mean is there any indication for eg. rev speeds are high, engine noise is less etc.

I get my bike serviced from a known mechanic. i used to get them serviced from an authorized service centre but somehow i wasnt satisfied. i only get it done from them when i have to change some part or i think my bike has some serious problem.

The thing with my gear is that once the mechanic adjusts the clutch it runs smoothly, i mean the pickup is good, the gears change quick and easily like butter, the engine runs smooth (reachs 60kmph @ 4000 rpm), but after a weeks use the gears get more hard and 60kmph @ 5000 rpm. now thats a lot pickup that is lost.
