Surprised there isn't a thread on it already. What's wrong with you all?!

India plays Pakistan on 26th. Yuvi is injured out and our pace bowling is pathetic right now. Looks like this will be another close match as Pak is also made up of mostly newcomers.

Close match or no close match.. i dont think India has got the team to get this trophy.

Bowling has been rugged to say the least and now the replacement for yuvi is Kohli.

ideally Irfan Pathan shd have been inducted into the team.

Dunno what the India Vs Pak match has in store for us.

India is currently ranked 2nd in the ODI format and have a good win-loss record in the last few years, still people are cynical.

I was positive about India's chances until Yuvi's injury. That coupled with Sehwag's absence means India is probably no-longer title contenders, but they still have to be taken seriously. I would have preferred Rohit Sharma, but I guess Rohit's poor form of late has cut him out. Kohli, on the other hand has been a revelation in the "Emerging Players tournament" held recently and was an automatic choice.

The onus is now on Sachin, Gambhir and Dhoni and if Rahul can anchor the innings like he once did, India still have a shot. Bowling is a worry and I hope RP, Ishant and Bhajji step up. Against Pak, if India get through the first 10 overs without losing a wicket, I think they heve a good chance of winning :)

The main problem at the moment with Yuvi's injury is the innings finishing touch. He was great at that and was consistently doing well at the end of the innings for last 1 year.

Current form of Yousuf Pathan is a big worry as well.

India is actually numero uno rite now.

SA's loss was India's gain u see.

Problem is the way one grabs the opportunity.

India got the first rank while Aussies slipped and India came on top while winning the match in Sri Lanka.

Very next game they lost out that position.

Thats why people are cynical. The professional touch wasnt there in the next game with the Indian team.

The bowling has been shielded by the batsman generally. In the absence of Zak, and with Irfan not in the squad, the bowling attack is looking really what it is.

You cannot pin hopes on Nehra. He is still finding it offbeat every once in a while.

RP aint the bowler he was during T20, and Ishant been bowling dollies.

Even if Harbhajan raises his game and takes the mantle of lead strike, how can one expect him to do all the damage..? Every other bowler has been spraying the deliveries here and there.

Yousuf pathan well mite fill in Yuvi;s spot with some smart rotation between Rahul and Dhoni befitting the situation, but the bowling is threadbare at the moment to put it honestly.

All of you ignore one FACT!

We have something that PAKISTAN cannot even dream of having !

SACHIN !

Bring it ON !

PS : I think INDIA is back to the Pre-Dhoni era where one man performances define how the outcome of the match plays out !

lol for your sake i hope he scores some runs otherwise it'll be a real shame :P

I honestly dont think India can win this one with half of their team not playing coz of injuries, if they do win though it'll be quite an achievement, but doesn't look likely

Only ardent fans watch full 50 overs nowadays. I used to do it when I was in school/college, but not anymore. Well most people cannot anyway as they are in office or travelling for at least part of the time.

Our pace bowling is so **** right now. Its only because of that why just Yuvi's departure may cost us the match. Our batting is still solid, but there's just always so much pressure on the batting side to post huge totals because both Ishant and Nehra can't pick up wickets worth ****. I don't know why they didn't bring Irfan or even Sreesanth back for CT.

Going by the way the wickets were playing in the first 2 matches, I guess India's path is a very tough one, and there is less chance of winning this trophy with the way the current team is playing. It would take a couple of outstanding performances or a collective team effort to go even to the semi-finals stage.

P.S: I've lost interest watching the "slow"-paced nature of the 50 over format.. :P Does anyone else feel similarly..?

I personally don't like 50 over cricket anymore. I'd rather 2 10-over games than a boring 50 over one ;)

Why "boring"?
Simple. Too predictable.

I wonder why Irfan Pathan was not called up for Yuvraj.

:S

Because he is not half the batsman that Yuvraj is and cant bat at number 5.

I dont watch 50over matches from start to finish these days. The middle overs are annoying. T20 has changed ODI focus. I seriously feel that Sachin's idea of splitting 100overs into 4 innings is a good one. It will surely be tried in the near future.

it should be ...i just cannot watch the middle part , plus the whole thought of 50 overs puts me off so i am just not watching anymore , maybe when india plays i can watch a bit on the side , but definitely not like before where i sat and watched the whole match

so maybe the second innings the bowlers can bowl better and the second time batting the team has to get around 200 runs ....majorly doable , it will be more exciting than sitting through 50 overs of drab

If a side cant reach within 40 runs of the first innings set by the opponent, then its knocked out and the 2nd innings becomes redundant. In big tournaments that should be worth 1 bonus point etc etc...

ok so the side which bats brilliantly and also bowls well enough to bowl out the opponents with a margin of 40 runs gets penalized for its performance?

And if they do "knock out" sides, then it wont be a 100 overs, 4 innings game. Why would the spectators, sponsors etc cough up money when there is no certainty on the length of the game {wrt time and wrt the number of innings/overs per innings}
