Bowling was Ranji level... Pathetic. Maybe even worse. How come we won in Lanka few days back ...??
Few months ago everybody was raving abt the likes of praveen kumar, Ishant, Irfan, and Khan.
Ishant cudnt raise his game when we cud have put them against the wall. I expected him to run through few players with his pace. And Harbhajan, oh well.. He and R.P just creamed us.
I dared not to open my mouth before the match but its actually a habit of Sachin to perish to bowler whom he has not played against. esp in high power matches.
Be it against the west indies (now what was the name of that three finger wielding french bearded bowker), or against Lankans, or even against Kiwis.. i have seen him getting out to newcomers and more like gifting his wicket to these noobs like a starting gift to their career.
Darn it..!
Not that India had any chance in this tournament even if they had won against Pakis, but the way last 5 overs went untouched and 3 big guns failed.. atleast they shd have showed some application.
Good thing i slept as soon as Gambhir committed harakiri.

Well a lot of things have been said about India in this thread and the team's performance. 2 weeks before it was the toss that gave India the Compaq Cup versus Srilanka. As far as the bowling is concerned, the less said the better. From 135 after 30 overs Pakis went on to make 167 in the last 20. Speaks a lot about the bowling and about Harbhajan in particular. Even Afridi spun the bowl beautifully while India kept feeding the Pakistani batsmen with bowls down the leg side.
And what about Dhoni? Whenever India has had a good start Dhoni has come out at number 3. But when a wicket falls cheaply, he comes down the order. He is AFRAID to face a new ball.
And about his captaincy, again a lot is left to be desired. The main complaint against Chappell was that, during his time, no batsmen were sure of their batting positions. Well the same is also happening during the Dhoni era.
Why send in the inexperienced, Kohli at number 4 when you could have replaced a left hander(Gambhir) with another left hander Raina. It gave the Pakistani bowlers, time to settle and bowl accurately.
And finally, Bhajji should take some bowling tips from the young Pakistani Ajmal, who bowled brilliantly. And it seems Dhoni has a dislike for Praveen Kumar as well. He would have been a much better alternative to Kohli. Or even Avishek Nair could have been tried.
Overall, there is very little chance of the Indian team making it to the semis, unless some miracle happens on Monday.

Why do people keep suggesting bowlers to replace Yuvraj or his replacement Kohl. You cant have Praveen Kumar to bat at number 5 or 6.
Even if they must get Praveen, they will have to replace a bowler.
This injury-hit team is light with an erratic bowling attack and a hopelessly out of "form and class" Pathan at 7.

Eight fast bowlers and none is in the shape to penetrate through a tough batting attack even on fast pitches. And i don't see a decent spinnner besides harbhajan in our team. Piyush Chawla and Amit Misra dont even come close.

chances are slim though, pak doesnt look like a team capable of beating Aus and india doesnt look that good a team to beat WI by that big a margin to negate the run rate deficit

Btw I actually think India was saved from being booted out of the tournament yesterday itself. Aus were looking good to post a total of 320. 300+ total is not uncommon in that ground, but having played 5 bowlers with no real allrounders, India were left with an average batting line-up with Bhajji slated to come in at the fall of the 5th wicket :rofl:... and people preceding them were kohli and Dhoni(he is good at number 7, but not as a specialist batsman IMO). Indian batting is an animal whose tail starts at the neck currently :no:. I hope they dont go in with 5 specialist bowlers again.

Simply put,
the tournament is for the best team to win. India is not looking one bit a decent team, leave alone being the best in the fray.
Ishant, Praveen, Irfan, Zak, Nehra, RP Singh - All pacers and not one good to come through.
Some pace attack we got. Every single one had to get into some mess at the same time.
Yuvraj too isnt doing any good by delaying his knee surgery (seen him wearing the black knee support braces..?)
I hope he doesnt ditches prior to the WC ..
Come to think of it.. There are only handful of Cricket teams as compared to Football and we cannot manage to win the ICC tournies.
What ll India do wen countries jump into the scene one fine day..??
