Cheap 50 inch TV

Hey all,

Similar to @mantheman's post, I am looking for a good 50 inch TV. Simple requirements. Pretty sure I have similar requirements as his but didn't wanna crap his thread. Old TV (Xiaomi 43 inch TV - https://www.flipkart.com/mi-4a-108-cm-43-inch-full-hd-led-smart-android-tv) went kaput thanks to a dead panel after roughly, I wanna say 4-5 years. Unfortunately, this has also been the third TV that went after a broken panel (had a Samsung 32 inch Full HD TV, Joy series, before 2019, and another LCD TV 32 inch also by Samsung). Coincidentally, this has happened during December as well (pretty sure the Samsungs died because of the cyclones in Chennai, not sure about the Xiaomi).

These are the requirements:
- Mainly used by parents for YouTube
- Occasional Prime Video, Hotstar (to watch IPL)
- Console (PS5 and Series S)
- Good panel quality that lasts for a really long time (question here since I dunno too much about TV tech and how to make it last longer since spending 25-30k every 4-5 years for a TV is a bit too much for us)

Thanks y'all and have a great day! :)
Might be missing something but this is the one for now

Try going for an Impex , they give 2 year full warranty and 2 year comprehensive warranty. They are quite cheap and is a Google TV( can be perceived as a good thing or bad) , or else wait for any festivals. Every company gives out free extended warranties during festivals. Like i got myself a 3 year full cover warranty( issued by LG itself) during onam sales.

Also helps if you have any friends working at home appliance showrooms as they would know which company has the most complaints and can also help you reduce the prices.

I used to work in such showroom and from my experience there, Haier, TCL, VU had more complaints than others and should be avoided

Buy 43" 4K or 55" 4K (unless you have space constraints).

You are a few days late, the sale just ended. 55" 4K TV from Hisense, Redmi & Acer were just under 30k. Vu QLED was 30k.

Can buy this for 31k:

This is a bit cheaper:
Thanks for the suggestion. Any specific reason to not go for 50 inch? Just curious is all. Shame the sale ended right as the search began. It won't be wall mounted and on top of the TV table so 55 inch would be quite big I think. There's only a distance of around 5-5'5 Feet distance from the sofa to the TV. Are Acer TVs good?

Never heard of that brand... I'll look into it but according to your comment, I'd be happy to avoid TCL, Vu and Haier. Thanks :)

Actually, look out for hisense too. They gave good warranty, but I’ve seen too much complaints for my liking. Highly recommend you to visit some home appliance showrooms first, and check the prices and models available, try more than one showroom. And compare them with online. Ask for discounts and extended warranties . There are exclusive models that are available offline and online too. Another perk from offline shopping is that you can tell them if you have any complaints, and they will register the complaint from their behalf to a service centre. Which has a higher priority than complaints coming from straight customers.

Size matters for TVs

I have used 55" TVs at 1.5m distance as well, good immersive experience. Just check something at local shop & place order ASAP. Usually 50" is priced too close to 55", so better buy 55". That has been my go to recommendation for most people. That Vu QLED at 31k is still a good buy.

I have a 48" TV myself, I had space restrictions in my previous place so 55" was out of the question. Also, price for my 48" was closer to 42" model than the 55" model, so that helped.

Avoid Impex, never heard of the brand. My general recommendation for cheap TVs are Hisense, Vu or Redmi, or in rare cases Toshiba & Acer (both of them are not made by their original companies, so don't be fooled, they just licensed out their naming rights).

TV that's not smart? Which?
He meant a TV that doesn’t have android as it’s OS, like get a tv with web os of LG. Afaik , hisense have google tv. If that guy is suggesting to get a tv without android, hisense shouldn’t be a best option. All these negatives makes LG the best option. And get it locally from your region’s best dealer

there are many brands without Android. Smart tv doesnt mean android. LG and Samsung have their own smart tv's without android. hisense has vida os, fast and lag free and decent apps. android on cheap tv's makes them unusable. I have 3 55' tcl and they all suck..Bought Hisense 55"120hz tv for 26k with fire stick from amazon under discount. very happy

Just focus on a good panel + decent connectivity. A Fire Stick or Apple TV can handle the smarts.

I'm fairly sure a lot of early Vu tvs sold in India were rebadged Hisense modela. Have a 48 inch full HD Vu from 2018 that's 'smart' but not Android. Been quietly doing its job without fuss.
