@superczar : after reading a few comments/reviews at newegg, almost everyone seems to be b**ching about heating problems (one fellow saying it died after 6months) and low transfer speeds (~50MBps).

Most of the b**ching is due to the fact that the App it comes with is extremely sad (Mionet) and places hazaar limits on sharing of sp. media files

However, if you use it directly as a mapped drive, it won't cause any issues

As for overheating, I have been copying 450 GB worth of data since Y'day and don't think the drive is overheating as such

Edit: Saiyan tells me my two year old NAS runs really hot...thing is I don't bother, and it has been doing good for the last 2 yrs running 24X7

Edit: oops, this is Superczar :ashamed:

low transfer speeds (~50MBps)

oh, actually 50MB/s would be extremely good..i Think only eSata gives that kind of transfer speeds

as for any NAS drive, the transfer speeds will be substantially lower..

My older NAS drives gives me 30-40 mbps (4-5 MB/s) annd this one seems similar too

Thing is NAS drives aren't designed to be data haulers, they are meant to be data repositories

The idea being to grab a torrent, and then play it back straight from the NAS (just map the drive as a network folder/drive on your PC)

if you are planning to buy one, don't expect it to be a portable or even semi-portable drive that you can carry along to dump data from a friend's place on it
