hello,
I was looking to purchase a cheap bu good music player as a secondary to my ipod.i thought of the sansa clip+ and so,my budget is 3k at the max.the main features i am looking for are-ruggedness of build and buttons, good sound quality, decent battery life, and, resistant to water(i sweat a lot :ashamed:),and,it should have a sound limiter like the ipods have.
what all options do i have?cost?warranty?what other features do i have to look for?
thanks

thanks!

i see.other than those?

philips spark is available in my city, sansa ill have to get online(no issues with that though).how good is the philips at taking a few hits?i mean, like dropping it or something like that?i guess the screen cant tolerate rough use?what about the sansa?

say,is sandisk going to release an updated model of the clip+ i mean like clip+ was the update to the clip?

and, never mind the sound quality,as im getting decent head-direct earphones.would that increase the choice i have?

I would suggest Clip+. It is very much rugged and if you have sweating issues, then you can always get a silicon case for that. But even without it, it will serve your purpose. It has excellent sound quality and best that it can be rockboxed so more features and customizations.

I don't know what sound limiter is (ipod) so cannot comment on it.

You may contact Pristine Note dealer on TE to buy the clip+

Clip+ 2GB. Personally using it for some time. Upgraded to 8 GB with a card (so now its a 10GB player).

Very rugged, great battery life. Moddable (with RockBox). If you can ignore the screen then its the best bang for buck within 2.5k. :)

i can set the maximum volume to a certain limit in my ipod.so,if anyone else takes my player to listen to music(younger cousins),i dont have to risk them hurting their ears by playing the music very loud.

^^Such a thing does not exist in Clip+ (not even rockboxed firmware) AFAIK. But that in no ways is a downer for not going for clip. As it is, IMO it is just a novelty feature.

alright then, clip + it is.also, since i have a collection of memory cards,i thought ill save a few hundreds by going for a 2gb version.but,Prinstinenote dosent stock the 2gb versions anymore.lynx has it,for 2.2k(thats really cheap).who else sell the 2gb version online?
also,Pristinenote says
We are working out with SanDisk ME for the 4GB prices. . We are also trying to work out 2 Years warranty instead of 1 Year offered by Pristine Note.
a price drop and warranty raise,if it happens,is very tempting.guess ill wait?

Volume limiter is available in both Clip plus and Fuze plus... however that is available as region specific. I do not think it is available in rockbox. It is legally mandatory to have a volume limiter in MP3 players sold in USA. If you select your region in Clip+ or Fuze+ as USA. You will have the feature of volume limiter activated automatically. To normalise, you need to select some European Country/Region. Hope it helps.
We now have the 2GB Clip+ in stock as well :). These have new packaging.
