Cheapest 4k gpu.

Hi guys, the title should be self explanatory but I'll elaborate a little.
I have a GTX 1070ti right now and I'm looking to upgrade my GPU. I'm also buying a 4k 144hz monitor.
I need a GPU that can game in 4k on current gen titles at least 60 fps on High settings. I don't have any specific budget but I'd like to spend as little money as possible.
I don't have any issue using frame gen or upscaling tech as long as it doesn't make the game look blurry.
As for future-proofing, the GPU should be usable for at least the next 2 years after that I'm fine if it isn't good enough.
Since the next gen gpu's are launching soon. I want to buy older gpus as soon as they get cheaper.

Your best bet would probably be looking at AMD. Their 7900 GRE or 7800 XT should be enough for 4k gaming. Don't look at Team Green as NVDA GPU prices will increase. This is because the 40 series GPUs are in short supply.

7900 GRE or 4070ti super 16gb seems like minimum for new games to me at 4k. 12gb Vram is just too tight even for 1440p maybe.
I generally play older games, not brand new ones and 3080 is good enough for me, though vram can still be an issue in some games like W3 ( even at 1440p ).

Framegen to get to 60-70 does not feel that good. Its meant to go from say 60-70+ base framerate to higher. Even getting to 80-90 fps from 50 or so in W3 ( via FS3) was nice but that's probably the bare minimum in a slower paced game.

DLSS quality at 4k is good enough, below that we start getting blurriness in motion. I did not like 4k performance because of this in multiple games, but this might be game dependent. When static, if you dont like soft graphics, CAS sharpening via reshade is very very useful. I use it in almost every game now. Just as useful as DLSS for me.

Nvidia seems more interested in AI markets so we get less supply and higher prices and compromised specs at these prices.

I use 7900GRE for 4K gaming. 16GB VRAM is a must, I have seen games crossing 12GB VRAM at 4K ultra (like Ragnarok). Also, it is not powerful enough to run 4K 60fps for all games, but when it cannot, just drop resolution to 1440p. I cannot see an observable difference between 1440p & 4K on my 48" TV sitting 1.5m away.

Thanks a lot everyone for the detailed suggestions. So it seems like the 7900GRE is the best gpu for me. I'll look for a good deal on that GPU then.

yeah if you can wait a bit, probably best to wait for few months as next gen is so close.
Amd next gen should be interesting and might fix FSR and improve RT performance. They are also focusing on mid range this time so should give good value for money too. If nothing else, current gen might get cheaper and you could get deals for used too once new gen arrives.

If you can wait till Feb - Mar, can wait for next-gen. Rumours of next-gen AMD GPUs are interesting. Nvidia is expected to sell GPUs via brand name alone with 5070 rumoured with 12GB VRAM (again such a waste of its raw performance).

Seems like the best bet would be to wait for the next gen then. Intel's B580 reveal is getting a lot of attention and might cause at least AMD to be competitive since Nvidia already has too much Ai money.
