I can't seem to find anything cheaper than the HTC legend which is currently at 22-24k.My budget is MAX 13k upto 16k if its really worth it.
stupid samsung seems to be least bothered about updating the i7500 otherwise that would have been perfect :@
Is there anything that I missed out or any upcoming phone in this price range or will I have to wait it out for either the Legends price to fall or the i7500 receive an official upgrade

How is the clarity of the i5700?

I ask because I'll be using the a-gps a lot and I doubt I'll get to properly mount it somewhere in my car so I'll be taking quick glances at the screen at an angle from time to time hence the need for AMOLED.

The i5700 screen is perfect mate.I also use GPS a lot( i tend to get lost in this stupid country.Read New Zealand).I would say just go get the i5700.I havent increased the brightness of the screen from its default level which is about 40%.

If you want GPS software for the android PM me

Do not Get the i7500 .... it is wayyy slower...

And i speak from personal experience..

Come on mate, I completely agree with Metalspree......

I have both the Spica as well as the Moto Milestone & I think both are equally snappy in performance.

Maybe u are using some custom rom that is making the phone slower......

:)

The i7500 is not at all slow ,it comes with the Qualcomm MSM7200A 528 MHz processor which is supposed to be better than the proccy on the i5700.

I was supposed to get the i7500 but backed just because i read in the internet that it would not be getting the 2.1 upgrade any time soon.

is the 2.1 version coming preinstalled on the phone now, or we gotta update it ourselves once we buy it??

PS : i5700 is listed at 12.3k on univercell.in. Is it because its the old 1.5 android version or it doesn't matter?

I have heard from few members in our forum that they have got 2.1 pre installed .If you are not getting the 2.1 out of the box just walk into Samsung service centers and they will update the same in 10 mins.I dont think so Univercell has it .When i went to purchase my phone ,lamers did not even know what was i5700.

If you are from Bangalore try channel 9 which is in Jayanagar else get it off from ebay

I checked ebay, the cheapest listing on it is for 13.5k. Since univercell has listed it for around 1.2k less ill just order it online, I am in no hurry... they can take their own time to deliver.

Buy it from a local Samsung dealer & u would get it for 12 to 12.5k max.

The new ones come with 2.1 preinstalled but if u get the 1.5 one, u can get it upgraded to 2.1 from Samsung ASC for free.....

thanks... ill go to the samsung dealer then. btw I got out of the Nokia X6 deal, so glad after reading all the negative reviews. Spica doesn't look all that great but for this price and considering the features I guess its way better than the X6.

Pester a local dealer ,he will give you freebies as well :)

What kind of freebies?
PS : is there any other model coming up in the next two months because I am in no hurry for a phone right now. I need a good phone by july.

^ You returned that piece? I think you mentioned you had already 'bought' it.

I had bought it on souq.com (Dubai's ebay). My sister went to the seller to pick up the phone and the moron tried to give her a 16GB one while he listed the 32GB model. So I spoke to him on the phone and he was trying to convince me that the 16GB one is better. I said I'd report him to the website authorities and Dubai being really strict he would prolly get deported (I really wanted to get out of buying that phone). Since it was cash on delivery, he agreed to just budge.

You can wait there are a couple of android phones which will release in the India market but not sure about anything below 15K which is as good as the i5700

Freebies as in a 8GB card, a car charger ,phone holder.A friend of mine was lucky to get all these from a local dealer at 12.5K

DAMN! that is a lot of freebies. Which city did your friend buy it from?

My budget is max 15k, you think I should just buy spica? is there a place where I can check out "soon to be released" phones in India.
