^ No they just want the TLD to belong to you as well.

For eg: techenclave.com/forums has no issues using adsense.
 
At bigrock.in .in domains are 99/- each. Just got one for myself just for kicks, paid using sbi debit card.

PS: There is also a coupon code which can be used to reduce the price further.Forgot to use it in a hurry :P
 
^For the first year it is just 99, later it is 650 ! Better try mitsu.in, at first it is 79 only and later 400 INR

Hey guys, say I bought one domain xyz.com for 1 year, and after 1 year if I don't renew it, it'll get lapse. Till now it's ok for me. But will that domain be available again for sale?? I mean after it get lapsed, can any other person buy that domain??
 
^ Yes. You will get a 30 day grace period to renew the domain. In this period, only you can renew the domain, if you wish. If you didn't, it goes into a dropped domains pool for 60 days and after that anyone else can buy the domain. So basically, 90 days after the domain expires, someone else can buy it.

Guys bumping this thread as I have got another query.

Is whois privacy is needed ? Any advantages / disadvantages ?

I don't think I need it,cos it will be my personal blog, hence everything will be open.
 
^ If you are going for a .in domain, AFAIK the .in registry prohibits the use of any whois privacy services.

But personally I enable whois privacy for most of my domains when available.
 
^ True. Why do you have to make your personal details public for no reason. If it's a company then it makes sense to give out your details.

^ I suggest you go for a well established registrar if you are serious about the domain and plan to keep it for long. If you just want to try it out then you can go for the eBay one.

The seller seems to be a ResellerClub reseller, you may be able to resolve any issue by contacting the parent company if at all the this reseller goes out of business etc but why take it all that risk just to save few bucks.

Go for a good registrar like NameCheap, DynaDot etc. Dynadot also have a promo running for .in domains for 3.99 USD.

Use namecheap, cheaper than godaddy, they also give free Whois guard.

For Hosting check them - byethost.com, hostgator.com, justhost.com, dreamhost.com

Domain I am interested is unfortunately not available. It will be expired on 23-Mar-2011. Assuming the owner won't renew it, when it will be up for sale again ?
