Hi, my friend bought a 22 inch full hd led monitor from dell. His deesktop is atholon x2, GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2P desktop with 2 gb ram. He is interested in watching full hd 1080p movies in it. Which is the cheapest graphics card that can support the lag free movie playback in this setup?

ati 5450 would do best job.

IMO a 6670 1GB will have you future proof for a few years. It just costs about 5.5-6k or so.

I'd suggest HD6570 ~4.4k for hassle-free playback or even HD6450 ~3.1k will do the job.

yes HD 6450 is excellent choice but you may be able to save cash as Almost all lower tier of HD6*** is rebadge of HD5***.

its not for game play so you can take 1GB also safely.

Not true.. only HD6770/6750 parts are rebadged. HD6450/6570/6670 are completely new parts with updated UVD (3.0)
