Looking for a backup mobile that will serve to receive calls and messages on my previous number. One of my bank accounts is linked to this number and I cannot change the number without visiting the branch (Indore) personally, which is impossible right now.

The mobile should be perfectly usable, with good battery backup (at least 1 week standby time). No need for any extra features. Not looking to spend any more than 500 to 600 INR, shipped to Erode.

Moorthy has an old Nokia phone laying in his stash somewhere which he disposed off after he got himself the Mi 410. Let me ask him.

You can buy this?

http://www.homeshop1...58259/cid:3027/ for 961

http://www.homeshop1...58257/cid:3027/ for 1160, but use a 200 off on 1000Rs coupon and you'll get it for the same 960.

Its just 300-400 more? But still my friend was selling a cheap one. I'll ask him and reply back.

#[member='Emil'] has a few good phones for sale. Sadly, he only wants a face to face Mumbai deal. But considering that you are a Mod (and hence trustworthy), he might be willing to ship.

#[member='Altair'] The phone will just lie at home, gathering dust and receiving sms may be once or twice a week. I don't want a new one for that. I might get one ultimately, if i don't find a cheap used one. Have enquired couple of mobile service shops too.

#[member='Neo-N'] Didn't contact Emil 'coz he wanted a local sale.

#[member='logistopath'] Sorry sir my friend already sold his Nokia 1600 and for merely 300 bucks. I'll still ask a few more if anyone's selling. best of luck though.

#[member='Neo-N'] - Thanks for the heads up. I am actually in Pune now but return to Mumbai 1 or 2 weekends a month.

#[member='logistopath'] - I have 2 phones in your budget range. There are 2 reasons why I do not want to ship.

First because they are used phones and we could get into endless post-sale debate on the condition of the phones. And lookswise my Z550i certainly looks old. The Samsung B100i does look decent though so I wouldn't mind shipping that after we speak on the phone.

Second reason for not shipping is because I have no clue which courier accepts mobile phones and how much they would charge since it is such a low value item. Any suggestions/information is welcome.

#[member='Emil'] You can ship via Shree Maruti Courier. They charge max 150 rupees.

Thanks a ton for the info. Will check with them though I feel Rs 150/- is a bit too much for an item worth so little. Not that I'm blaming the courier but just pointing out the economic futility.

Even if it doesn't work out for this deal the info is valuable for future use with more expensive items.

#[member='Emil'] Agree with you regarding the shipping cost involved in such low priced items. Speed post also accepts mobiles, and I think it should cost lesser. Not sure how much though. Let me check all possible sources and get back to you if the mobile is still not sold by then.

Thanks. Yes I found a lot of posts in the market section which offer to ship by speedpost so I guess that should be workable.

I think you should put up a wtb thread for Nokia phones that use bl 5c battery. Get one with or without battery.new battery costs 250. I just brought a 5 year old 1110i back to life!!

Prasad, extremely sorry. Looks like Moorthy disposed off that phone sometime back.

He even had a slider Nokia phone which a friend of ours lost, when he was at Delhi to attend that Metallica concert or whatever. He asked me to convey the message to you.

#[member='Neo-N'] Thanks for the link. But almost all the mobiles show as out of stock in the Olive Shop. Anyway, had a talk with one of the local mobile repair shops, and they have a Nokia 1650 in working condition, although the battery is bad. I've agreed to take it if it holds charge properly with a new battery. Should get the mobile probably today evening.

#[member='Gannu'] Not a problem mate..!

#[member='drsingh'] I think what you have suggested is what is gonna work for me. The Nokia 1650 uses a BL5C.

Now that you mention it I know a friend who just upgraded from a Nokia 1650.the body is bad but the battery is good. I can talk to him.he just wants to hang on to it as a backup
