I will be running not more than 4 virtual machines at a time. I think core i3 sandybridge range can work without much issues on 6GB ram system for such requirements.
Want to go low budget as much as possible, will upgrade later. Thats why am concentrating on m/b. now and for that Asrock H67M-GE looks great (4 RAM slots and such) if it comes in my budget. Asus P8H61 M LE is a very good option, will go with it if Asrock H67M-GE is not in my budget and not available.

@Bikey

I think he is on low budget...:P And H61 motherboards are compatible with every sandybridge CPUs even with 2600k... There are still some ppl on TE who are using Q6600 on 2.5k Asus P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard... So what i mean to say is OP wouldn't face any problem if he would use i5 2400 on any H61/H67 motherboard...

Yes am on low budget :) and max price I can pay for m/b. is 6K...

current options under consideration Asrock H67M-GE or Asus P8H61 M LE.

That i5 2400 needs to be cheaper. :@ :P

I am definitely not fond of such configs and definitely not very pleased if/when such users complain in case of any issues. :P

As of now, am using Q6600 on Biostar TPower i45 m/b. The m/b is good when used carefully.

It works good with 4 VMs on 6GB Ram.

I passed my RHCE training on that setup :)

Upgrading now, as the s/w I am testing in VM have MS Windows 2008 64bit requirement. VMs work even now, but I wanted to upgrade just for better performance and 'keeping up with times' ...

Will put my current setup on TE before upgrading :)
